5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fangtastic Read, 11 April 2006
This book is excellent. It is the fourth in the Argeneau Vampire Series and personally I think it is great. This is about Lissiana and Greg who we here alot about in the other books so it is great to see how they got together, and it is amazing as you understand the family members more than you ever did in the other books. This book was actually meant to be the first in the series yet it does not confuse you in the slightest as you know the whole family so well.

Definately a book for anyone who wants to laugh, cry and has a weekend to spare as you will not be able to put this book down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucern's little sister finally gets her turn!, 25 Aug 2005
By Deborah MacGillivray "Author," (US & UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Lynsay is back with another long-awaited Argeneau tale, and new sexy updated cover instead of the cartoon ones. New Publisher, the vamps are no longer with Dorchester. They're now put out by Avon (though Dorchester will continue to do her Historicals). Originally, this was the very first Argeneau tale in the series, not Single White Vampire (Lucern's tale). So it's great to finally get Lucern's little sister's story. As followers of the series know, the Argeneau vamps are the modern day, intelligent sort, who know feasting in the wild can get "blood" with all sorts of problems. In order to skip all this rather mundane ugliness, they've invested in blood banks that see them supplied with a full range of "flavors" and blood that is safe! Only, Lissianna really has trouble with this popping her fangs into a blood bag and having a quick munchie.

So Mama Argeneau sets out to give Lissianna the perfect present - one sexy male tied up and waiting. Well, Lissianna wants Mr. Right, not just Mr. Available. She's tired of her vamp immortal life, and would like someone to share it with. Lissianna has other problems, such as her fainting at the sight of blood, an annoying trait for a vampire. For a Birthday gift, Mama has gone out and fetched Dr. Gregory Hewitt, used mind control to get him to tuck himself up in the trunk of her car, and now has him tied up nekkid on Lissianna's bed. Wouldst that all mums were so obliging on birthdays!

Greg was planning a much-needed vacation. The last he recalls is leaving the office and planning on getting away. Instead, he wakes up in a stranger's bedroom. Well, he's male - this cannot be all bad. Okay, she's a vampire romance may be a bit difficult to work out, but to quote Joey Brown in Some Like it Home, "nobody's perfect."

A great tale which you can sink your fangs into! Expect Vincent Argeneau sometime after the first of the year. Keep 'em coming, Lynsay!

For thos paying attention - the series has NEVER been "in order"
Single White Vampire was Lucern's tale where wrote about his siblings' lovelifes - their real lovelife and romance editors thought they were vampire romances. So the takes of his brothers and sisters come AFTER his tale meaning they had already happened before Lucern happened. Since there are four more currently planned over the next two years waiting to read them in order is plain silly.

They are to be read and enjoyed. Cannot do better than that. A writer has little control of these things. Originally this was to the the first in the series. The publisher decided otherwise. Stop getting bent out of shape over it and just have fun.

2.0 out of 5 stars It was ok...., 1 Sep 2008
I think I've been a little spoiled recently by JR Ward, Kresley Cole, Lara Adrian and Jacquelyn Frank, because i was left feeling very unmoved by this book. After reading up online, I knew this wasn't the first book written in the series but that it was the first chronologically, so thought I would continue my foray into the world of the Argeneau vamps by starting with this book - possibly a mistake as previous reviewers have alluded to - published order might be more advisable. However having only read one other book in this series before and wanted to see what else the series had to offer...

As my title states, it was ok. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. It read as if you were expected to know the back history of the Argeneau Vampires and didn't really feel as if it worked as well as it could have done as a stand alone book. While it may be number one in the reading order, I don't think it works as an introduction to Lynsay Sands' Vamp world.

Lissiana is a 200 year old vampire who is hemaphobic causing her to faint at the sight of blood. This being quite a handicap for a vampire prompts her mother to kidnap psychologist Dr Gregory Hewitt in the hopes that he can help rid her of her phobia. Later the couple are forced to escape her family home at the prospect of Greg having his memory wiped (or worse, having his brain scrambled in the process because he has been over exposed to their world).

The Good:-
- It was fast moving. It didn't bog the reader down with needless details.
- The vampires seem very ordinary in their daily lives which makes them easy to relate to as a reader. They are written in a very modern style.

The Bad:-
- Lissiana seems to be a very childlike and I found her hard to enjoy. As a human exposed to Lissiana's vampire family, Dr Gregory Hewitt is far too quick to accept the situations he is thrown into.
- There is a sub-plot within the romantic story line where someone tries to kill a main character. It obvious from the very first moment who the culprit is and it left me angry that I had to read another 150 pages before anyone in the book twigged.

For the ardent Lynsay Sands fan, and someone who has read more of the Argeneau Vampire series, I would assume that this is a welcome addition to an enjoyable series. However, to someone relatively new to Sands work, this is not the book to start with. Having read 'The Accidental Vampire' I have faith that there are better books in this series and will give this series another go...
