Product Description

Buried deep within a jungle, ancient ruins conceal a deadly secret... Buried in a tomb in Venice, a great explorer hides a truth that could shatter history... Buried in our own genetic code, a mystery like no other... But nothing stays buried forever-and it will be up to Sigma Force to face what will be unearthed: a plague beyond any cure, a scourge that turns all of Nature against mankind. From the high seas of the Indian Ocean to the dark jungles of Southeast Asia, from the canals of Venice to the crypts of ancient kings, Sigma Force must piece together a mystery that, unless solved, will end all life on our planet. But even this challenge may prove too large for Sigma Force alone. With a worldwide pandemic growing, Painter Crowe and Commander Gray Pierce turn to their deadliest adversaries for help, teaming up with a diabolical foe who thwarted them in the past. But can the enemy be trusted even now? Or will they prove to be another Judas? --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars For me It Is The Same High Standard, 14 Aug 2007
By J. Chippindale (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
This review is from: The Judas Strain (Hardcover)

James Rollins was born in Chicago, Illinois, is 1961. With his three brothers and three sisters, he was raised in the Midwest and rural Canada. He graduated with a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri and went on to establish his own veterinary practice in Sacramento, California. His sense of adventure often takes him either underground or underwater.

I am a big fan of all the books by James Rollins and he has kept the standard very high. Some writer seem to have peaks and troughs, a couple of good books and then a mediocre one, but not Mr. Rollins. All of his books have been first rate.

I don't really want to get into the James Rollins versus Dan Brown thing. I am not ashamed to admit that I enjoy Dan Brown's books too. Although I do not think the Da Vinci Code was his best. Each author has his own merits and nothing is gained by comparing the two of them.

This is another Sigma Force novel: Ancient ruins surrounded by almost impenetrable jungle, conceal a deadly secret. At the other side of the world, buried in a tomb in Venice lies a truth that could and will shatter the world. But nothing remains a secret for ever and it is up to Sigma Force to deal with anything that comes there way . . .

Whether it's jungle, underwater or high in the mountains of Tibet, James Rollins knows how to tell a cracking story in his own inimitable way.

3.0 out of 5 stars it's ok, 21 Aug 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Judas Strain (Hardcover)
i'm a big james rollins fan, have read all his books to date except amazonia, and as much as i loved all his other books, the judas strain didn't quite do it for me this time, i felt it was too full of complicated explanations and unrealistic dialogue between characters.
i also felt that this book lacked the excellent chase and action sequences normally found in his other books. don't get me wrong it was still an enjoyable read and anyone who likes his other books will enjoy this as well. would be 3 and half stars if i could

3.0 out of 5 stars Great adventure, 6 Sep 2007
This review is from: The Judas Strain (Hardcover)
The Sigma team of Painter Crowe, Pierce Gray, and Monk, are back battling with The Dragon Guild and Seichan as they uncover a deadly bacteria in the Christmas Isles. Following the popular historical fiction genre, Rollin's ties this in with some real mysteries surrounding Marco Polo's return voyage from China to Venice. The plot takes us with adventure and history to the exotic cities of Istanbul and Angkor Wat, as well as others. I enjoyed this book as well as others by Rollin's where his proven formula of high octance (yes, far-fetched) action adventure (c.f. Cussler) mixed with interesting historic puzzles (c.f. Steve Berry) to give a cracking read.
