Great, laugh out loud fun - forget the plot, it's full of hilarious incidents, like Steve counting the cost of owning a dog; Bob "the little person" dog's table manners; and of course "crazy Elsie Hawkins" (she's in 2 other of Janet's early books, "Smitten" and "Wife for Hire"), obviously a foretaste of Grandma Mazur in the Plum series. Read it and then dip in again and again, there's fun on every page.

If you like "Plum" you'll love this! This story 'rocks' along at a fast pace and your eyes won't be able to keep up with the words! It's nice ol' fashion romance mixed with a ZZZippy up to the minute influence.
I like the characters...Elsie and Grandma Mazur could be sisters! Bob dog is like Bob dog...only a different make...but still eats everything in sight!
A good book that is "unputdownable", good for time off from from reality...pure escapism and funny to boot.
Thank you Janet, I can't wait til the next one.

funny, so funny!!! from reading this book, its the first attempt at some characters we have come to know and love in the "plum" series. also a cheeky little romance, little bit of escapism for the modern girl.
