5.0 out of 5 stars Excellant first book in series, 26 Dec 2007

This is the first book in a series of contempory novels about Samantha Jellicoe and her boyfriend, British billionaire Richard (Rick) Addison.

Previously I had only read S. Enoch's historical novels and indeed I first came across Rick and Samantha in the novel Twice the Tempation, which starts off with Rick's ancestor and then goes onto Rick and Samantha in present time. I then bought some of the other Rick and Samantha novels.

In Flirting with Danger, Sam Jellicoe, a very successful American cat burglar, breaks into Richard Addison's Florida house to steal a Trojan artifact. The information that she has received from her fence is that Addison will be away until the following day.

However, information and luck isn't going Sam's way, for Addison is back a day early, by chance discovers Sam and both are blown up by a bomb planted in his house. Sam saves Addison's life and then disappears, leaving him and everyone else wondering if she set the bomb and who she is working for.

Somewhat annoyed at obviously being set-up to take the fall for the bomb, or alternately being the target for the bomb, Sam sets out to discover what is going on. The only way to do that is to 'drop' in on Addison yet again.

Rick is fascinated by the attractive bad girl, who appears nevertheless to have ethics and morals. They agree to work together to try and discover what is going on and Rick becomes determined to make a very wary Samantha his.

Sam has had a very disfunctional childhood and is wary of commitment and trusting anyone. It is therefore very annoying to discover that not only is she attracted to Addison, but also trusts him and likes having him around.

This is a very enjoyable book and enjoyable series. It has the side characters of Tom, Rick's best friend and lawyer, Walter, Sam's substitute father and fence and later to appear in the second book, mentioned in this first is Patricia, Rick's ex-wife, all of which add amusement and depth.

This is one of the best reads that I have had in a long time, the cast of carictors is very good. richard is a modern day man with that little bit of wanting to protect woman in his life.Sam is a surviver with a very interesting vocaion (cat Burgerlar) she sets out to rob him and ends up solveing a bigger crime.when you think the book is finished you find out that the next insallment in there romance is on the way.
