I noticed the reviewers highly recommend this book for law enforcement personnel and I agree it is probably very useful for them, but I also think this book is helpful to a much wider audience. As a school counselor, I have applied the principles in this book in many situations with students and parents which might have escalated into dangerous confrontations. I believe anyone working with the public could benefit from Mr. Thompson's ideas.

This is an essential tool for law enforcement personnel. Although the author has not spent enough time in the law enforcement field to be considered an expert, he has lived long enough in this world to be classified an expert in life. This book has brought me closer with understanding the individuals who I have to deal with everyday. I would recomend this book to anyone remotely associated with the law enforcement profession.

This book basically tells and desmonstrate to you with examples that there is a way to handle negative verbal communication without losing control. Although most of the examples are of a police officer's day-to-day experience in handling difficult situations, but you can definitely apply to your own difficult verbal interactions. With this knowledge i can deal with difficult verbal interactions much more effectively in my daily life now, the more i apply the skills the better i get.
