I read this to my son's second grade class. They loved it and I did too because it made it so easy to keep order in the class. The problem of too much laughter was solved by the threat of not turning to the next page. The poems were funny and fresh. The children recognised themselves in several of the pieces.

If you want your children to enjoy poetry, I cannot think of a better place to start than this book. I've read this book to my kids and they were disappointed when we finished the last one. That's why I bought "Where the sidewalk ends" and I wasn't disappointed. No doubt about it, the late Mr. Silverstein is sorely missed and was a remarkable talent. I urge you to get your hands on the work of Shel Silverstein.
