Although not my first book on C++ I was pleased that it used real world examples such as a Stock control systems, albeit basic and not stupid classes using cats and dogs, which do not mean much to me whilst trying to learn a new language for work.

It does not cover all the aspects of C++ that other starter books offer, but I think it is a good accompanyment to a more dedicated learning book.
