I am currently using "Basics of Singing" to teach my students who are primarily pre-college age. I find that there is enough technical information to help them understand what the body is doing and how it works yet not so much that they feel overwhelmed. The parents are particularly fond of the book because they are not required to spend more money on music for the first semester or two of lessons. The music collection is varied but solid in the classical fields. It gives the students music that they enjoy and are able to perform, music that they recognize from performances that they have attended or seen in movies or on TV. All in all, I have found it to be a very helpful tool in teaching kids the good foundational tools of the vocal trade.
