4.0 out of 5 stars Lacks basics, 16 Dec 2001

really good book for all round information. lots of content. However too much time is spent on the "from beginner to ring fighter" fairytale. Needs more on basics.
still a good book for the beginner.
very good training/ fitness routines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kickboxing made easy in small steps and excellent tips., 17 Sep 2000
By the_huggybear@yahoo.com (Nottingham, England) - See all my reviews
This is an excellent illustration of the sport/martial art of Kickboxing. As a relative beginner to Kickboxing, (yellow belt)I wanted a book to show me the complete picture of Kickboxing as well as breaking it up into small chunks which are easier to understand. There is something here for everyone - for the beginner like myself - easier steps on all the basic moves as well as excellent suggested combinations for sparring. For the advanced Kickboxer it deals with other areas such as intense training activites, diet suggestions and mental preparations for tournament fighting. If you want to do Kickboxing for fun, sport, self defence or in tournaments, this book is exactly what you need. You wont find a better book covering so much about Kickboxing than this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Trying to do a little too much, 29 April 2001
By bmxbrandwood@hotmail.com (manchester, england) - See all my reviews
i thought this was all in all a good book, however guy mezger has set his task to take a regular person with no training and put them in the ring in about 6 months. Anyone who studies any kind of martial arts will know that the process is almost always longer than this. The book is good for workouts, and shows very basic tecniques. My advice.. go join a club, no book can teach you.
