From the Author
A hello from the author and a summary of reviews.I'm thrilled that you are taking the time to learn more about my book. I spent over 3 years writing it and my hope is that people will bring it into their homes and use it.
My goal is to give my readers the recipes, the knowledge, the encouragement, to get in the kitchen and cook healthy meals for themselves and their families. Although the title says "lowfat" it is much more than that. The recipes include lots of vegetables, foods high in fiber, and the protein is lean. I use olive oil, nuts, even cheese. These ingredients are used for flavor and in moderate amounts are nutritionally sound choices. This is not a diet book. It is a cookbook to use as a daily part of ones life.
I've been getting some great reviews, which confirm that I accomplished my goals. The Nov/Dec issue of Health Magazine listed 1,000 Lowfat Recipes in their article on the 10 best healthy cookbooks of 1998. The New Orleans Times-Picayune says it should "keep you in new ideas for at least a couple of years." The Globe Times says it is "crammed with healthful ideas and extremely versatile reicpes" and Nations Restaurant News calls it "an important book".
