...this is a study guide so don't go expecting anything more. its got a good selection of questions and is an excellent book for exam preparation. it is comprehensive and has questions and answers covering the vast majority of areas in macroeconomics.

This book uses a chronological approach when explaining intermediate macroeconomics.

To clarify, this book teaches intermediate macroeconomics by following the chronological development of the ideas and their consequent "schools": Classical macroeconomics, the Keynesian model, the Monetarist model, the New Classical model...

The contents of the book is:
1. Introduction
2. Measurement of macroeconomic variables
3. Classical macroeconomics I
4. The Classical System II
5. The Keynesian System I
6. The Keynesian System II
7. The Keynesian System III
8. The Keynesian System IV
9. The Monetarist Counterrevolution
10. Output and Inflation
11. New Classical Economics
12. Macroeconomic Models Summary
13. Consumption and Investment Spending
14. Money Demand
15. The Money Supply Process
16. The Supply Side
17. Fiscal Policy
18. Monetary Policy
19. Exchange Rates and the International Monetary System

I found his explanations to be quite clear and straight forward.
There is little mathematical treatments in the chapters themselves, but the appendices of each chapter provides more mathematical detail and elaboration.
The mathematics used is general and theoretical, i.e. you'll see the familiar symbols used in economics: Y, C, M, I, MC...

This book is particularly suited if you plan to study, or are currently studying, economic history.

Whether you like this book or not depends on whether you like the teaching methodology, i.e. pedagogy.
The chronological approach worked well for me, I liked seeing how the ideas developed with time, how they branched out.
If you are not a very patient person then you might get bored with it.

I am confused by the other review associated with 7th ed. of text book. It suggests it is a study guide. Has it been crosslinked to the wrong item?

I used an earlier edition (about 1995) of the TEXT and thought it excellent, perhaps the best in its niche. The publisher's description is accurate;the book provides clear easy to read coverage of the main schools of thought in macro-economics.
