2.0 out of 5 stars I didn't find it helpful, 14 Mar 2007

(REAL NAME)
I found the tone of this book patronising and I was concerned that some of the advice was out of date (I hadn't looked at the year published when I brought it).

For example it doesn't recommend folic acid suppliments but it does recommend eating liver, both of which go against current advice, at least here in the UK. I couldn't find any advice on what foods to avoid, which was why i picked it up. It spends a whole chapter telling people about the evils of drugs and alchol, I really don't think that anyone with a heroin habit is going to take an interest in nutrition.
It was also very long and complicated, there is an awful lot of statistical information and I challenge anyone to be able to follow the diet.

The self assessment quizzes may be useful to some people, but I would recommend if you are to buy this book to make sure you use it alongside a reliable up to date text outlining currrent advice.
