Praise for Darren Shan "Horror is the hottest genre in children's fiction and Darren Shan's gruesome stories sell by the millions" James Delingpole, The Sunday Telegraph Praise for LORD LOSS "Utterly unputdownable." The Times "The plot twists and turns like a sharp descent down a dark flume" TES

Product Description
There are more chills and thrills in Darren Shan's latest "Demonata" title, now in paperback. Let the Slawter commence..."Never trust fairy tales. There are no happy endings. There's always something new around the corner. You can overcome major obstacles, face great danger, look evil in the eye and live to tell the tale - but that's not the end. As long as you're breathing, your story's still going!" Nightmares haunt the dreams of Dervish Grady since his return from the Demonata universe, but Grubbs takes care of his uncle as they both try to continue a normal, demon-free existence. When a legendary cult director calls in Dervish as consultant for a new horror movie, it seems a perfect excuse for a break from routine and a chance for some fun. But being on the set of a town called Slawter stirs up more than memories for Grubbs and his friend Bill-E.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the amazing Demon Thief!, 30 Jul 2006
By Ryan - H.M.H. "Come & Go" (Birmingham England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Slawter (The Demonata) (Hardcover)
This book is the best out of the three bokks made in the Demonata series. I still think this even though I absoloutely loved the second book (Demon Thief). This contains the best contents of the first two books. The character Grubbs (who I preffered) and the extremely descriptive feelings from Lord Loss, and the gore and spookiness from Demon Thief. These things combined make this book chillingly descriptive on every topic included in the book. Once again, Darren Shan proves to be one of the best writers for teenagers today.
The book picks up where we left Dervish, Bill-E and Grubbs in Lord Loss.

Dervish is still shaken up after being in the Demonata universe. A famous horror film director wants to make a new movie on demons. He somehow knows that Dervish knows all about demons, and so, invites him to the town of Slawter to help with his film. Dervish, of couse, accepts the offer of the director hoping this will be a fun break. Drevish invites Grubbs and Bill-E to come with him. But, unknown to them, this mysterious director is working for Lord Loss, and is setting a trap for the new visitors!

All the characters have the same personalities, and so do the demons! The demons include the infamous Vein, Artery, Lord Loss, and, on the cover of the book, we see Cadaver. There are many twists and unexpected turns in the plot. The ending is very good, leaving Darren Shan a good opening into the next book about Grubbs. The battle at the end is really scary, it is a blood shed battle between the humans and the demons, explained in gory detail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bloody brillent, 24 Jun 2006
By Mark Langhammer "vampre x" (n ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Slawter (The Demonata) (Hardcover)
The third book in the demonata series where the narative reins are passed back to grubbs. It is several months after the events of Lord Loss and Dervish is going mad, attacking Grubbs in his sleep. Then a cult director Davida Hyme invites Dervish to help her with a new film that she is making about demons. But the demons aren't as fake as you'd believe
Easily the best book of the series where you get to see the growing of grubbs's magical abilitys and how Lord Loss fights.
It can easily be read as a stand alone novel even if you have never read the first (lord loss) I strongly recomend this to anyone (if you don't mind blood and gore as its probobly the gorest book ever)

5.0 out of 5 stars great horror series, 29 Aug 2008
By Red (Liverpool) - See all my reviews

From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in some of the later episodes. Whoever is in charge you can absolutely guarantee a frightening ride through another world, which Shan depicts so very well. As far as teenage horror goes this is about as entertaining as it gets. You cannot compare it to the real horror masters, such as James Herbert, Shaun Hutson, Brian Keene or Conrad Jones, but they are truly entertaining, even though the storylines are flimsy to say the least, they are still excellent reading.
