Review

"We are in an age where manners and polite behaviour seem to be consigned to history -- this book is a breath of fresh air." -- General Secretary, NAHT (National Association of Head Teachers) "Tip of the Week -- Finally, a suggestion that may make life a little easier. If you are living with teenagers there is excellent advice on offer in 'Yes, please. Whatever!' Many Parenting Cafe contributors are fans of Ms Palmano's common sense and workable ideas on how to smooth a path through family life." -- Saturday Telegraph. "Penny Palmano who wrote a bestselling book on children's behaviour and manners last year has turned her attention to teenagers for her new book, "Yes, please. Whatever!" "You can't get away with treating them the same way that you have for the previous twelve years, they are becoming young adults," says Ms Palmano. Not that she has been a pushover confirms her 17 year old son Sam. "She's caring, and she encourages me and gives me my own space, but she means what she says. I have friends whose parents view children and adults as completely different species. They seem to think that until you are 21 you don't have opinions that count." -- Daily Telegraph Praise for Yes, Please. Thanks! "Mum and author, Penny Palmano writes a book called, 'Yes, please. Thanks!' And all hell breaks loose. Do I welcome a book on good manners for children? Absolutely." -- Vanessa Feltz in the Daily Express. "Author Penny Palmano has come up with an idea that is as brilliant in its old-fashioned simplicity as 'Eats, Shoots and Leaves'. Her book, 'Yes, please. Thanks!' aims to teach our children good manners." Terence Blackler, The Independent. "Perhaps it's an unchangeable fact that every generation of adults will decry the manners of its children. What is certain that no generation has had as much reason to as this one. A new book 'Yes, please. Thanks!' by Penny Palmano aims to change all that." The Times, Required Reading.

Product Description

Following the success of her first book, Yes, Please. Thanks! mum and author Penny Palmano, This Morning's Mrs. Manners, is back with this comprehensive guide to raising teenagers. After her fair share of parenting, Penny Palmano decided to tackle what she saw as an epidemic of bad manners, and wrote a guidebook on teaching good manners to children. The book, Yes, Please. Thanks!, touched a nerve and has become a bestselling sensation. Yes, Please. Whatever! takes you, the parents, to the next stage and teaches you how to avoid the pitfalls of teenagers and all the problems specific to that age group from hormonal fluctuations and untidiness to dating. Penny shows you how to build mutual respect with your teenagers, the foundation stone for good behaviour and a good relationship. The book also includes first hand advice on teaching your teenager how to deal with siblings, relationships, exams, stress, food, money, part-time jobs, drinking, paying compliments, how to behave in public and with friends and even advice on how to teach them to pour wine. The result is that your teenager will be totally prepared in all life and social skills when they finally leave home.

5.0 out of 5 stars More please, 12 Jan 2006
I have been using Penny Palmano's advise from this book for the last month and my home has changed beyond recognition. Apart form the peace and calm that is prevalent in the house, my daughter seems to be happy about being a 15 year old rather than hating every minute of it and blaming me. And I have discovered that my 16 year old son can speak ! All parents and teenagers should be made to read this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes Please. Whatver! The best parenting book I have read!, 26 Jan 2006
By A Customer
I have never written a review before but I just felt I had to in this case, I got the book before Christmas as life was becoming unbearable with two sullen, snappy teenagers and I was feeling desperate. Well, I simply can’t believe the turnaround in the household since putting the book’s advice into practice. Penny Palmano is right, it’s not rocket science. Her advice is so sound and put across in such a human and funny way, you know she’s got two teenagers and a step-teen. I didn’t think it was possible to live harmoniously with teens, I was wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Example!
Penny Palmano certainly practises what she preaches. I met her son Sam when he was 12 years old and a more personable, well mannered boy it would be hard to meet. Read more
