Product Description
Telegraph
'This is a good old-fashioned thriller with a clever premise.'

Synopsis
A hugely inventive, hugely readable novel about two young people with Multiple Personality Disorder. 'A gripping novel of suspense that could have come from the pen of Stephen King at his best.' Daily Telegraph 'Mouse is lying in a strange bed, in a strange house, with her hand pressed between the thighs of a man she has never seen before...She doesn't scream. She wants to, but a lifetime of losing time -- and covering up the fact -- has left her skilled at controlling her reactions. She screams inside.' Penny Driver -- 'Mouse' -- suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder, blacking out whenever one of her other personalities takes control of her mind and body. So when Penny discovers that her new colleague Andrew Gage also suffers from MPD, she asks for his help. Through therapy, Andrew's personalities have long since learnt to co-exist in harmony in an imaginary house inside his head, but Andrew's 'house' is not quite so ordered as he would like to believe. In helping Penny, he discovers a locked door under the stairs, deep in his unconscious -- a door that hides the dark secret as to why Andrew's childhood mind shattered in the first place...

5.0 out of 5 stars A book with real heart and several personalities, 29 Mar 2005
I picked this book up thinking it would be a creepy psychological crime novel, which the quotes on the cover seem to infer. I was wrong.

This novel drew me in and had me hooked from the very beginning. Its a wonderful book with a less sensationalist approach to Multiple Personality Disorder. A real page turner.

This book is wonderfully written and a great read for anyone interested in the workings of a mind that most of us cannot comprehend living with. The characters are warm and you get lost in it without being able to put it down! A great one for long journeys. You will remain entertained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Set this house in order // Matt Ruff, 25 Aug 2005
This book is a great read. I don't know that I believe the science, but it certainly makes for an interesting and intelligent thriller. Ruff uses dialogue and physical description well to show and differentiate between the different souls in each of the bodies. Great from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read
A story about a wonderfully complex collision between two people who struggle, both individually and jointly, with multiple personality disorder. An immensely enjoyable read.
