"very helpful and comprehensive" Yoga and Health

Product Description

This comprehensive, full-colour guide to the gentle art of reflexology reveals how therapeutic foot massage can relieve stress and promote health and well-being. Reflexology is a unique system of foot massage based on holistic principles and springing from the same Chinese roots as acupuncture. By locating and massaging the reflexology points on the foot, which relate to the different parts of the body, we can redress the imbalance of energy which can cause stress and ill-health. Beautifully illustrated and full of specially commissioned photographs, this practical guide includes: the history of reflexology and the importance of its holistic approach; the anatomy of feet and the workings of reflexology; the meridian system and how it works; the use of foot massage to achieve a positive and balanced lifestyle; self-treatment and basic techniques; a thorough reference section. This practical guide offers the reader a window into this remarkable therapy which can treat and prevent a whole variety of ailments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best-illustrated by a long way, 1 Jul 2002
By Oxford School of Reflexology (Oxford United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This re-issue of Inge Dougans's early text on learning reflexology makes a perfect complement to her "Practical Introduction" - clear colour photographs explain the various techniques very well. Recommended both for students of reflexology and for general interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars integrates reflexology with the meridian system, 16 Dec 2003
By Michael Lavocah (Norwich, England) - See all my reviews
Most reflexologists are satisifed by the fact that reflexology works without seeking to know why. Inge Dougans isn't. She has truly advanced the field by attempting to integrate reflexology with the meridian system, which further explains a number of odd phenomena (haven't you ever worked on a reflex and had the client report a reaction somewhere completely different?)

A landmark work - essential for all serious students of the field.
