Synopsis
Lawyer Judy Carrier takes the case of her career when an elderly pigeon racer named Anthony Lucia is arrested for the murder of his lifelong enemy Angelo Coluzzi. "Pigeon Tony," as he's known to all his South Philly neighbors, confesses he killed Coluzzi because of a vendetta begun more than 50 years ago, a blood feud that has brought great tragedy to Pigeon Tony's life. Her client's guilt, however, is only the beginning of Judy's problems. The Coluzzi family wants revenge, and they are determined to finish off Pigeon Tony and Judy before the case can go to trial. And if that isn't enough, Judy's got to contend with Tony's magnetic grandson, Frank, a man who makes her think about everything but the law, and her boss, the no-nonsense Bennie Rosato. In a case steeped in blood and memory, it will take a stroke of brilliance to save Pigeon Tony. But if anyone just might see justice done, it's this gutsy young attorney who'll risk everything to win ...including her life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous story from the enthralling Ms SCOTTOLINE, 29 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Elderly Pidgeon-Tony (LUCIA) is an Italian living in the South Philly, U.S. who must stand trial for murdering Angelo COLUZZI, the man who has taken so much away from him. Tony murders COLUZZI because of a lifelong vendetta that COLUZZI so cruelly began.

Judy CARRIER is the lawyer that so expertly defends Tony. CARRIER quickly falls for the whole endearing LUCIA family and the characters who are Tony's friends.

You will laugh and cry while reading this wonderful book - I guarantee it. Being a Australian-Italian, I really, really LOVED this book. I knew that I had to savour every word. SCOTTOLINE describes her characters and surrounds so well you cannot help but lose yourself in this suberb book. If I am waffling too much about this book - I can't help it!! If you read only one book, pick this precious piece up and devour it very, very slowly.

This is the 8th SCOTTOLINE novel and though I have only read 2 of SCOTTOLINE's previous books I will definitely be making a hasty beeline for the bookshop again to get the rest of her precious works. Thank you Ms SCOTTOLINE for one of the best books I have ever read - you are a true storyteller.
