Product Description

Product Description
This title forms a concise and practical reference source to the rules as laid down by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. It also acts as a guide to any infringements and penalties that may occur as a result of breaking the rules. Aimed at both the beginner and regular club golfer, the book follows the progress of two players of differing ability and the different situations which they experience over nine holes of a course. The implications of each rule they encounter, or breach, are explored before the players move on to the next hole. "Pocket Golf Rules" contains the updates to the rules while illustrations demonstrate those that come into play most often. It is useful for any player who wants to save time and arguments on one of the most trying aspects of the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very readable guide to the unreadable rules, 25 May 2001
By A Customer
An excellent little book, explaining the most commonly encountered rules of golf in a very readable and enjoyable way. The book follows the progress of two friends playing nine holes, and at each hole one or other of them encounters some problem where the relevant rule is then explained. I tried making sense of the rules themselves, but they are heavy going; this book is really easy to read and understand. And knowledge of the rules actually makes playing the game more enjoyable! My favourite bit in the book is where one player asks the other what club he would recommend for his next shot; "Imagine his surprise when David's reply was that John had lost the hole because he had just breached Rule 8(1)..."

4.0 out of 5 stars fun and informative, 1 Aug 2002
By A Customer
I found this book to be rather refreshing after the very dry golf rules books that are available. Instead of listing the rules in cronological order, we follow 2 players round a course and the various pitfalls they come across.

I would recomend this book for the beginner golfer - you can even pick up a few ideas as to how one should approach playing a round.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, 29 Dec 2005

Easy golf rules - yes they do exist! This book is different from the norm, it actually follows two golfers round the course putting them in a position where they need to check a rule. Ideal for beginners as it is easy to read and follow. Basic rules but very straight forward. Recommended.
