Product Description

Product Description

The "Noon Book of Authentic Indian Cookery" is a highly illustrated culinary journey around the continent of India. "Curry" is popular in many countries in the world - the classic dishes on offer, such as chicken tikka, chicken biryani and mutton roganjosh, are legacies of the Great Moghul emperors who ruled India for 300 years from the early part of the 16th century. The lavish patronage of these monarchs gave cooks the leisure and incentive to perfect their skills and raised cuisine to an art form. Creamy kormas, tender kebabs and spicy pilaus first created in the imperial kitchens have now become an international taste. The recipes in this book are quick and easy versions of these great dishes, as well as those dishes that have evolved or been invented since.

About the Author

Gulam Noon, MBE, is the owner of Noon Products, which produces 3 million chilled Indian meals a month for British supermarkets and export to Europe, Hong Kong and the Middle East. Sainsburys supermarkets now account for more than 70per cent of Noon Products' business, with Waitrose, Safeway and Somerfield also buying Noon curries. The Noon Foundation, founded in 1995 with a donation of ?4 million from his personal assets, provides funds for local, national and international causes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Authentic Indian Cuisine at its best, 10 Dec 2001
By A Customer
There has been a flood of Indian cookery books, but this one is the jewel in the crown. Simplicity, authenticity and a love of food have all been combined to leave the reader eager to take the plunge and enter the world of spices and aromas that give Indian cookery its charm and excitement. Various regions of India have been included in this beautifully presented book, where photographs take you on a tour of India as well as its cuisine. Any Indophile will smile at the images....so real and so tempting!
