Product Description

Product Description
This title contains over 60 recipes and a self-treatment plan to transform your life. Marguerite Patten suffered from crippling arthritis but was completely cured after following the arthritis diet. As a cook, though, she found the recipes impractical and often unpalatable so she set about creating a whole new set of easy to prepare, good to eat, arthritis-beating recipes. Marguerite's recipes are accompanied by a nutritional plan devised by the nutrition expert and author Jeannette Ewin, Ph.D. This lays out all the information an arthritis sufferer needs to have: what to eat, what to avoid; nutritional supplements; lifestyle advice; prescription drug facts and side effects.

From the Author
"When I experienced very severe arthritis early in the 1990s I followed a regimen of carefully

chosen foods with wonderful results. Changing your diet can change your life."

Margueritte Patten, O.B.E.

4.0 out of 5 stars Difficult but worth it, 26 Jul 2001
By David Stirling (Loughborough) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book uses all the up to date information about arthritis and food, to compile a diet that can help relieve some of the symptoms of this horrible disease. The layout is ideal, first outlining the disease itself and then continuing on to talk about how certain foods can help you. It culminates by describing a 7 week process, which can eleviate your inflamation and swelling as well as enabling you to do more than you could before. It also contains many wonderful recipes by Margeurite Patten, using the sometimes difficult ingredients, to create some tasty dishes. I give it 4 stars rather than 5 because it won't be for everyone. It is quite a difficult diet and can be expensive. For example you will need to get rid of all processed food, caffeine, and alcohol, and eat organic food instead like vegetables, fruit, nuts and espically organs, like liver, kidney and sweetbread. So if you are serious, give it a go, but don't expect it to be easy

1.0 out of 5 stars A fundamental problem, 16 Oct 2002
By A Customer
I recently purchased this book for my arthritic mother. After a few minutes studying it she sighed. The problem with this book is fundamental. It's all very well creating the culinary delights it describes but what if your condition precludes standing around in the kitchen for hours preparing food? Simple, easy to prepare dishes are what's need. Oh dear back to the drawing board.

3.0 out of 5 stars An ammendmant to my previous review, 19 Sep 2001
By David Stirling (Loughborough) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have just finished the seven week course recommended in this book and i thought i would share my thoughts now i have had a chance to evaluate the book fully. Let me first reiterate that this diet is very difficult to stick to, espically the first two weeks. However you are eating a lot healthier generally and that can only be good. The bad news is that this had absolutley no effect on me, either good or bad. I didn't identify anything i was allergic to, nor did it alleviate my condition. I have reduced my rating of this book to 3 stars because of that. I do have faith that this book would work for some people, most likely older people, so i can't criticise it too much. My advice if you want to buy it is give it a go and prepare well. Read up on gluten free products and decide if a life without these products is worth the chance that you could feel better.
