4.0 out of 5 stars Great!, 27 Mar 2004
By Kim Banner (Teeside) - See all my reviews
After hours agonising over shelves in book shops looking for any revision guide to aid my delapidated maths skills, i fanally chose this, as it was the thickest and most intelligent looking! When i took the time to begin my revision, I found this really usefull. It was clear and user friendly. It went into great detail about everything, rather than skipping over some of the subjects as other revision guides had. Unlike other revision guides, it has loads of little questions after every topic, to check you are doing it right, and two full exam papers at the end. My only criticism is that the language is sometimes slightly difficult and formal to understand, and as there is no glossary at the end, it makes some of the pages hard to work out. All in all, a really good and usefull buy, i would really recommend it.

By A Customer
This book is excellent and provides a very useful basis to develop one's learning with Key Stage 4. This book includes trips and tricks on how to develop one's exam technique, and also common errors, which are very useful to improve exam technique

5.0 out of 5 stars A very helpful book., 22 April 2007
By Paul Macdonald "mac20584" (North Wales) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was pleased that this book is suitable for both Intermideate/Higher candidates, and was even more pleased that the Higher material is highlighted and arranged into it's own section at the end of each chapter; which means that Intermediate students can revise their work, without wasting their time revising the more diffcult work intended for higher tier students.

They present each topic well; with a short explination of how to do a certain question (factorising quadratics for example), and then a series of worked examples. Each topic is then topped off by a series of questions for the reader to attempt. The good thing about these questions is that, when they give you the answers at the back of the book, they write exhaustive comments on how they came to that answer, which is far more useful than simply giving you the answers without explaining how they got them in the first place.

If I had one complaint, then it would be that some of the topics aren't explained thoroughly enough, and can lead to some confusion. However the vast majority of subjecs are explained brilliantly.

This book is reccommended, and will probably help you achieve the best grade possible.

All the questions in the book come with the answer and the method. Highly recommended. Students will find the book useful throughout years 10 and 11, not just at revision time,... Read more
