And Rivett's guide to fitness, aimed solely at women, is a winner.

By kicking off with the importance of technique, it's clear that Rivett has no intention of dumbing-down her message to the reader. She argues, for example, that aerobic training does not build muscle to the extent that weight training does, hence her emphasis on strength training. Increased muscle mass means burning extra calories (because muscles need more energy to service them).

By the time you've reached the exercise section, you will be raring to go. You might adopt the exercises as a programme, incorporate them into your current fitness plan or latch onto particular ones (like the cellulite-free hamstrings and buttocks exercise, surely destined to be a hit!).

Only one minor criticism: doing away with artificial airbrushed images is admirable, but this goes too far, with unflattering lighting, hair and make-up. --Lorna V.

Jenni Rivett believes that women want to look like women and she will therefore enable them to understand how their bodies work. This book's aim to to help women achieve the desired results by teaching them to exercise correctly. This fully illustrated guide explains all the techniques. The exercises themselves are divided into the areas of the body starting with the all important warm up. She then begins with arms, back, chest and perfect posture. She moves on to back to front exercises and then to the problematic abdominals. She places importance on stabilising muscles such as abdominal and back muscles - when arms and legs are being exercised the stomach and back are also being strengthened by acting as stabilisers. The routines always end with stretching to open out and relax the muscles. She also covers cardiovascular exercises concentrating on techniques, intensity, frequency and duration. Jenni Rivett rejects aggressive dieting in favour of healthy eating. This exercise book is for working women and those who are keen to lose weight and transform their bodies quickly and permanently. This volume is a woman-only approach to exercise written by British personal trainer, Jenni Rivett. She has worked out how to achieve a fit, firm and feminine body in only six weeks using time-efficient methods and techniques that work.

An excellent, clearly explained exercise programme that not only works, but can be carried out in the comfort of your own living room, with a minimum of basic equipment. I feel great, fit, and financially much better off!

This is the most fantastic programme - the only one I've followed without getting bored - because it really works. Give it a try and see for yourelf - the results are truelly amazing!
