This is part of a series of books about Anastacia who thinks for herself and is described as being "a crackle-brained, freckle-faced dynamo"! In this particular book we learn about Anastacia's two ambitions. The first is to be a journalist, which is why she has to know the 'who, what, when, where and why' of everything. Her second goal is to conquer rope-climbing in gym and to destroy her reputation as being the only girl in her gym class unable to climb a rope! This book with Anastacia, her friends, her little brother, her parents, her Uncle George (who looks like a film star!), Gertrude Stein, Ms Wilhelmina Willoughby, Mr Rafferty and a whole bunch of international educators cause this book to be fast, fun and funny! This is a great read, especially if you have enjoyed the rest of the series!

Of all the Anastasia books this one is my favourite, her peotry recition in the gym still cracks me up just thinking about it. Everyone must be able to sytmpathise with the unlucky heroine as she fails to make it to thetop of the rope and has to bllow the whistle instead whilst the rest of her class climb, especially upsetting as her favourite teacher is witness to her humiliation. Whether you are at school still or left years ago I think this bok will strike a chord.
