Product Description

Product Description
Louise Arthur was diagnosed in February 1999 as terminally ill with a malignant brain tumour. It was inoperable. She was then 28, had been married to Tim for 5 years: and they have a 4 year old daughter. After reading Ruth Picardie's book, Louise decided to write her diary - named "Shadow Diary" - on the web. She started in April , and Tim also contributed - occasionally - and showed what life was like for him, for their love together. By June 1999, the "hits" to the web site were running at 1000 a day: she started a column in the "Daily Mail", and Channel 4 decided to do a documentary on her. On January 11, 2000, Louise Arthur died. This text contains selections from both Louise's and Tim's contributions to the "Shadow Diary", but has also been written by Tim since her death, and includes samples of both Louise's earlier writing and her photographs.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enriching true story..., 19 Jul 2001
This is a true story. These are real people. Tim and Louise Arthur were married. They did have a daughter. They were happy. Now Tim has been left to raise their beautiful child without her mother. Lousie died of cancer.

I have been known to cry over films, shed a tear if a sentimental song comes on the radio, but never have I cried whilst reading a book. I'm not talking a sniff here or watery eyes. I cried.

This book is beautifully written and a few pages into it you start to feel like you know the author. It is an extremely open and honest account of their relationship, their love for another and their ultimate resignation of Louise's fate.

This book is beautiful and an incredible read. It is not heavy or difficult to get into, it's not hard work... it flows easily and you will laugh as much as you will cry. This story touched me unlike any other book I have ever read.

It is a wonderful example of human courage and that there is such a thing as soulmates.

What can I say, a moving yet down to earth book. I have recently been diagnosed with cancer myself and far from being a depressive book found this true story an uplifting and conpulsive read

5.0 out of 5 stars empowering, 4 May 2003
Shadow in Tiger country's first impresion initialy fills the reader with depressing thoughts, given that death is such a taboo subject. However I have never read such a positive, truthful book that engages the reader in addressing the frailtys of human life, which in turn informs the reader of a blueprint to live life to its full potential. Even after the physical is no more Louise has the power to live and I mean LIVE and derive meaning and enjoyment from life. She also describes this passionate love that she experiences with her husband Tim, something that some people will never experience in a lifetime spanning a hundred years or more. Louise and Tim you were very lucky. Read this beautiful empowering book a celabration of life.
