Product Description

The magnificent new novel by the internationally bestselling author of The Other Side of Midnight and Morning, Noon and Night. He wanted power, she wanted revenge! 'Dear Diary: This morning I met the man I am going to marry.' It was a simple enough entry in a young woman's diary which gave not the slightest portent of the elaborate chain of events that was about to occur. The Best Laid Plans tells the explosive story of the beautiful and ambitious Leslie Stewart, who learns that for some men power is the greatest aphrodisiac; and of Oliver Russell, the handsome governor of a small southern state, who finds out why hell has no fury like a woman scorned. With the unexpected twists and turns that are the hallmarks of his mega best-selling novels, Sidney Sheldon spins a tale of two equally determined people headed on a collision course. Oliver has a strategy to win the White House; Leslie has a scheme to make him wish he'd never been born. They both should have known that even the best laid plans can go dangerously astray!in a deadly dangerous way.

2.0 out of 5 stars No, no, no, no, no!!!, 29 Dec 2000

What is Mr Sheldon up to??? How can the person who wrote the Master of the Game and If Tomorrow Comes have written this book? The plot was weak, the characters even weaker and he starts so many sub-plots that he then just forgets about. It's easy to read and you fly through the pages (which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 - I read it in a day), but so are Mills & Boon books and a lot of them have a more interesting plot than this book. Please Mr Sheldon, spend some more time on thinking up a plot and developing characters in the future, I know you're good at it!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sheldon's back on track, 21 Feb 2000
By A Customer
Perhaps I am getting too demanding when it comes to a good book, but I need to be dazzled by a book, to be caught off-guard, captured. This book didn't quite do that for me, but it was a fast improvement compared to Sheldon's 'Tell me your dreams' which was a complete drag. The story has a good pace, so it makes it easier to stick to it when the story itself looses its edge now and again. The ending has a nice twist, as we are admittingly sucked into believing the obvious (in this case not so), but also has some soppy elements which would have been best left out. Anyway, it's a decent enough and contemporary story of men and women scorned, power and revenge which takes a turn for the worst. Your basic sensational contents fit for a Spelling tv-series, yet entertaining enough. Not dazzling though, therefore 3 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 4 April 2007

This is the second Sidney Sheldon novel I've read.

It's excellent, has some great characters and the story keeps on the move all the time. It's very easy to get into and the story takes you on a great journey.

I don't want to go into two many details about the story as I don't want to spoil it for you. This story just shows how people will go after trying to get revenge after they've been wronged by another person

I found it very enjoyable and a compulsive read. :-)

Looking forward to reading more novels by Sidney Sheldon.

3.0 out of 5 stars This story was very complecated but very powerful
This story was really powerful and some parts were too complex for me to understand that I had to reread the passage again. When I did I got the story and I really loved it.
