'A master storyteller at the top of his game.' USA Today 'Compulsively readable.' New York Times Book Review

Product Description

One of Sidney Sheldon's most popular and bestselling titles, repackaged and reissued for a new generation of fans. Tracy Whitey is on top of the world. Young, beautiful, intelligent, she is about to marry into wealth and glamour -- until, betrayed by her own innocence, she finds herself in prison, framed by a ruthless mafia gang and abandoned by the man she loves. Beaten and broken, but surviving with her dazzling ingenuity, Tracy emerges from her savage ordeal -- determined to avenge those who have destroyed her life. Her thirst for revenge takes her from New Orleans to London, from Paris to Madrid and Amsterdam. Tracy is playing for the highest stakes in a deadly game. Only one man can challenge her -- he's handsome, persuasive and every bit as daring. Only one man can stop her -- an evil genius whose only hope of salvation is in Tracy's destruction! Sidney Sheldon is one of the most popular storytellers in the world. This is one of his best-loved novels, a compulsively readable thriller, packed with suspense, intrigue and passion. It will recruit a new generation of fans to his writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read, full of intrigue and ingenuity, 13 Sep 1999
By A Customer
I've read this book quite a few times now, and I still marvel at Sidney Sheldon's writing creativity. I simply love this story of daring criminality! This book is about a girl who's life is changed drastically when she is framed for a crime she didn't commit. When the one she loves turns his back on her, she finds she is all alone. Help comes from an unexpected source and when she gets out of prison, she simply wants one word - REVENGE. The excellent plot twists and turns, leaving the reader wondering where the story will go next. Sidney Sheldon is an excellent writer - this book is just one superb example. BUY IT if you like thrillers!

I picked up this book because I saw the 'If tomorrow comes' series on some video. At that point, I hadn't known Sidney Sheldon's books, but I thought he must be popular because one day a customer came into our second hand bookshop, asked for Sidney Sheldon books and left leaving a three-foot hole in the bookshelf.

'If tomorrow comes' is an excellent read!

Tracy Whitney is a STAR. She starts off as the underdog, but ends up on top of the world. Framed for attempted murder in New Orleans, she spends time in prison, but receives a pardon when she saves the Warden's daughter from drowning. Released from prison she takes revenge on the people who framed her. I particularly liked the way she framed the judge. I almost felt sorry for the guy visualising him in his Siberian Labour Camp trying to figure out how all this happened to him.
Tracy tries to return to a normal career, realising pretty quickly that that path is barred for those with a record. Out of desperation she engages in a jewellery heist, during which we discover this rare talent of a master thief. Settling in London she becomes the Number One thief, although mostly stealing from those who would hardly miss it anyway. My favourites were the chess match and the theft of the painting. Finally she happily retires with her companion/ex-competitor.

'If tomorrow comes' is one of those books you never want to end. The story is a gripping read from beginning to finish. I read it in one go. And you will too.
