Product Description

Product Description

What does it take to succeed in today's competitive world? Is it luck? Talent? A touch of madness? Edward de Bono talked to 50 outstandingly successful men and women, all of whom spoke frankly about their own strategy. Among them were David Bailey, Sir Terence Conran, Robert Maxwell, Jackie Stewart, Sir Clive Sinclair, Virginia Wade, Lord Forte and Verity Lambert. De Bono then distilled their wisdom and experience and turned it into a practical strategy that anyone can follow in order to achieve their own ambitions in life and work. The result was this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quotes from successful people, 11 Aug 2003
This book overlaps less than usual with de Bono's other books. Here he has interviewed some forty or so people, mostly from the business world but also from areas such as sport and law, and presents their opinions on how they came to be and continued to be successful, covering areas such as strategy, attitudes, luck, dealing with people and so on. He has drawn the thoughts of the interviewees together into a coherent book, but I don't think there are too many surprises, either from de Bono's respondents or from his commentary. Some amusement may be derived from Sir Clive Sinclair's pre-C5 comments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Traits you need to succeed, 25 Jun 2008
By Rolf Dobelli "getAbstract.com" (Switzerland) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This highly informative, entertaining book is based on interviews with successful people who explain how they succeeded. Each person's story, as related under the guidance of conceptual and creative-thinking expert Edward de Bono, reveals different aspects of how he or she achieved difficult goals. This book will inspire you with the parade of skills, effort, drive, luck and talent (or lack thereof) that helped these people, from Malcolm Forbes to Sting, rise to the top. getAbstract thinks this uplifting business book transcends the usual self-development titles with its real-life success stories from athletes, race car drivers, bankers, musicians, lawyers, publishers and executives who show that success has no set requirements, though hard work and grit don't hurt.
