I was impressed with the fact that some of the places I consider to be excellent in and around Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland were in here. It wasn't the big places that impressed me - it was the fact that wee cafe's such as Carmine's Pizza and Pasta and The New Dolphin chipper were in there.

Something to keep in the glove compartment of the car. Whether visiting for business or pleasure, whether a half day, a weekend or a week you will find something useful. Lets people see the 'real' Scotland of today and yesterday.

Apart from a clever structure and the highest journalistic standards, this book is a joy. The clever thing about such opinionated copy is that pretty soon one picks up the character of the writer, and thus can get a much more accurate and tactile impression of a place than from so-called even handed reports. This book can only enhance the pleasure of visiting or living in Scotland.
