Product Description
Victor Stock is the Rector of St Mary le Bow, London, and is a regular broadcaster on BBC Greater London radio. Through 'style and accessibility' he has resurrected the fame and fortune of the famous 'Bow-bells' church. One of the church's new ventures has been an award winning restaurant in the crypt. He also initiates regular weekly dialogue meetings with personalities to which all are welcome. Anecdote follows anecdote in often hilarious prose of meetings that have included such names as Diana Rigg, Stephen Fry, Tony Blair as well as the Queen. What Victor has thought, felt, done and seen can tell us many things about the best and the worst in people - but in the end the book is a celebration and an illuminating glimpse at humanity. Victor Stock is surprising. He is not what you expect a Vicar to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Witty and perceptive comments on "City" life. You will laugh, 5 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Thank God for a diarist who combines witty and perceptive observations of people and current social attitudes with a good pinch of humility. Read this book for the laughs it will bring and for the perception behind the comments.

5.0 out of 5 stars a witty, irreverent and profound writer, 9 Dec 2001
Victor Stock shows the true face of the city, it's callousness and kindness while dismissing a few myths about politicians and parsons. I found it unputdownable....and i'm very secular
