Product Description
Synopsis
From the author of Tabloid Bible, another original and hilarious discovery from Bible times -- a whole filing cabinet full of papers dating from actual Bible events. In a long forgotten cave, off the beaten track, Nick Page has found something even more startling than the Dead Sea Scrolls. In an ancient filing cabinet he has come across the actual documents, bills, receipts, memos and reports from Bible events centuries ago. They include: * A take-away menu from Manna-u-like * Advice on how to fill in your Levitical Tax Form * Minutes from the first tribes meeting * A market research report on the 10 commandments * Architect's designs for the Temple * The Big Issue, Bethlehem edition

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, but with some serious points, 12 Jan 2000
By A Customer
This book is a great read. It is a very funny book.

But that is not all it is. The author uses the various files to highlight some absurdities of behaviour or attitude we see about us: reductio ad absurdum. In a similar way to an earlier book, the "Tabloid Bible", he also points clearly to the bible, drawing attention to some of its intrinsic humour, some of its more bizarre stories, and some of its serious lessons.

Most of it, though, is just imaginative humour; taking an idea from the bible and running with it to see where it goes.
