Product Description

Product Description

Since its creation in 1983, "The Bill" has consistently pulled in some of TV's biggest audiences - around eight million viewers per episode. It is the most successful police drama series on British TV ever. "The Bill: The Inside Story" is an illustrated colour companion. "The Bill" has provided some of the most hard-hitting drama on television over the last 16 years, holding the attention of the nation episode after episode. It has been the training ground for a host of talented young actors - and a showcase for some of the better known ones as well. This perennially popular police drama simply runs and runs - entertaining millions with its gripping plots and vibrant authenticity. It is a highly illustrated guide to the programme, packed with fascinating facts and never-seen-before photographs, and includes: a history of the show - a look at how the programme came into being; an indepth study of the characters, past and present; plus a look at what's in store for the force at Sun Hill in the near future. Rachel Silver has exclusive access to the cast and to the crew, and asks the questions everyone wants answers to. It's a backstage look at the actors and programme makers who put together the show we see. It looks at the appeal of the show, and how researchers and writers work with real police officers in order to get the programme as hard-edged and stunningly credible as it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! A really good insight into how the Bill is made., 4 Jun 2000

Essential for any fan of the series and anyone who wants to know how TV drama works. All my favourite characters are included - particularly Billy Murray's character, Don Beech, as 'dodgy' as ever! It really adds to your enjoyment of the programme.

The Bill drags in an average audience of 8-9 thousand people each episode shown, and this tie-in show`s how it does just that, with in-depth catorgories of biographies etc...
