Covering everything from foreplay to fetishism, Real Sex approaches the job in hand in a highly entertaining yet thoroughly informative fashion, giving very real advice and insights into the wide world of sex without being condescending, judgmental or just plain seedy.
Its secret to success is in its humorous take on the subject matter, rather than adopting the kind of rigid, scientific approach of previous "educational" volumes, like the Joy(less) of Sex, author Grub Smith hits the ground with a few well chosen one-liners and races through almost 200 pages without letting the pace slip.
It's a very laddish read, the language is strong enough to make your mother blush and it's packed to the hilt with pictures of people in the nude practising a variety of positions to give you a feel for the subject matter. However, as pictures speak a thousand words it's a real winner in the style department (so to speak).
Take any of the elements in abstract and it's either a sex manual, a crude joke book about sex or 200 pages of "naughty" pictures but add them together and what's left is a highly informative book which successfully manages to makes it point, educate and entertain.
