3.0 out of 5 stars A good basic guide to the common birds of India and Nepal., 8 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This book is very compact, so is ideal for anyone wanting to keep luggage to a minimum but have a quick reference for the more common birds of the Indian Sub-continent. Some of the pictures are a bit lurid. Most of the names go by the English names (rather than the American), which is good because that is what the local people call them when refering to them in English. However, it creates confusion with the more comprehensive bird books. A lot of species are missing altogether, so if you're a keen birdwatcher, you'd be better getting one that covers everything. It has more information on the species it lists than pocket guides that include the whole species range, which makes it a useful second book for a keen birdwatcher to take alongside, for example, Grimmett, Inskipp and Inskipp.
