Product Description
Amazon.co.uk Review
The mice of Brambly Hedge first made an appearance in 1980 with the publication of four stories that introduced a charmingly nostalgic hedgerow world where anything could happen, but all would be well in the end.

A Visit to Brambly Hedge is published to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jill Barklem's characters, and features brand new artwork to mark the occasion.

As the reader explores behind the scenes, trying out recipes and games that the mice enjoy, investigating hedge and plant life, learning what is safe to eat from the wild and what should be avoided, Barklem's fans gradually discover more about the enviably gentle world of the Brambly Hedge folk.

A Visit to Brambly Hedge is a pretty gift book that will delight young readers, but will appeal to lovers of old-fashioned artwork and ideals no matter what their age. (Ages 5 to 8) --Sally Hartman

Synopsis
Where is the hedge that inspired Jill's famous stories and beautiful illustrations? How do the mice make the delicious food that is mouth-wateringly described in the stories? 4.0 out of 5 stars At last another edition to the Brambly Hedge Library!, 5 Aug 2001
This book is a great snapshot behind the scenes of Jill Barklem's creation and a very brief look into her life. One is introduced to the families of Brambly Hedge and their homes and even has the chance to marvel at the workings of the flour mill, which was highly researched and illustrated. Yet again this book is accompanied by Jill's fantastic illustrations that transport one so easily into her world. And demand study, for there is always something new to see. We are taken through the hedgerow, down along the stream past the Dairy and the Mill and encounter the Old vole - the oldest of member of the community. One also journey's through the seasons once more, with information given about everything, from recipes to school work, and poisonous flowers to making cordial. The recipes prove a great success especially with young fans who love making these simple dishes. Further from the hedgerow and stream, one is able to visit again the High Hills and the Salt mice of the Sand dunes. This is a really intriguing taster into the Brambly Hedge community and how it came to be!
