Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Every now and again a picture book comes along that perfectly combines the charming, the sweet, the humorous and the witty with stunning, memorable illustrations and a story line that tickles the reader pink, no matter how young or old they are.

Little Pig Figwort is such a book. Little Pig Figwort just cannot get to sleep, no matter how hard he tries, and realises that part of the problem is that he really is a pig who would rather be having fun than sleeping. So he decides that he should have an adventure, and sets off into the night in search of good times. From the bottom of the ocean (where everyone is very sleepy indeed, and send him packing), to the North Pole (where even the polar bears are dozing) and then finally to the moon, "where the pigs fly high in the silver sky all night, because it's much too shiny and bright to sleep".

Beautiful illustrations (there can be few cuter pigs than Little Pig Figwort), and rhythmic, sing-song text make this stunning and rather special book a must, and ideal for reading together at bedtime. (Ages 3 and over)--Susan Harrison

Synopsis

Little Pig Figwort just cannot get to sleep, he tosses and turns, but it is just no good. Who can he find to play with in the middle of the night? Little Pig Figwort dives to the bottom of the ocean but the mermaids are all asleep. He zooms off to the North Pole but the sleepy polar bears growl at him to go home. So Little Pig Figwort jumps into his space rocket and whizzes off to the moon where he discovers the moon pigs, who play games of Pig Pirates, Moon Jump and Hide and Seek all night long. After such an adventure Little Pig Figwort is at last ready for a good night's sleep. AGE 4-7

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic bedtime story for toddlers, 5 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Little Pig Figwort is a beautifully illustrated book and a great nighttime story for toddlers. Little Pig Figwort goes to bed with his brothers and sisters, but isn't tired at all. So he goes on a series of adventures. At first he finds that he is only disturbing the mermaids and polar bears that he wants to play with, but at last he finds a whole group of pigs on the moon who will play all night! After lots of games the little pig is exhausted and falls straight to sleep. My daughter adores this story and most nights will drop off herself by the end!

5.0 out of 5 stars Firm favourite, 3 Jan 2009
This was a favourite with my son when he was two and has stood the test of time, still being quoted by both him and his sister 8 years later.
A lovely story about a little pig who can't get to sleep, he tries to have an adventure but everyone is asleep. Finally he goes to the moon and finds the moon pigs- 'he played and played until he just couldn't play any more' and having declared that 'that was so much fun I don't think I'll ever go to sleep again' -you guessed it -'Little Pig Figwort is fast asleep' You can't go wrong.
