Amazon.co.uk Review

A storm is raging through the park causing Percy, the park keeper, to have a sleepless night worrying about the damage being done to his beloved park. When he gets up the next morning he finds the old oak tree has been blown down. This is a disaster for all his animal friends who used the tree as their home. Fortunately, Percy is on hand to help find them a new place to live.

The simple text and expressive illustrations perfectly combine to create a picture storybook that is ideal for reading aloud to young children. The poster-sized gatefold at the end is an added surprise and is a superb example of Nick Butterworth's skills as an illustrator. (Ages 2 to 6) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Percy, the park keeper is having a sleepless night. A storm is raging outside his hut; there is thunder and lightning and pouring rain, but worst of all, there is the wind! When Percy gets up following morning he expects to have a lot of clearing up to do in the park -- but it is even worse than he imagined. The old oak tree which was home to many of his animal friends had been blown down. Where will Percy's friends live now? Percy sets off and very soon has devised a plan, the results of which produce a very big surprise indeed! 'One Snowy Night,' Nick Butterworth's first picture story book about Percy and his friends was an instant success and has already sold almost a quarter of million copies. Now Percy the gentle park keeper and his friends appear in a brand new story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bit wordy. Does that make sense in a children's book?, 25 Oct 2007
By TG (UK) - See all my reviews
I bought this off the back of 'One Snowy Night' which we really enjoyed. 'After the storm' is a bit weak in comparison. The story is not as captivating and a bit 'wordy' (if that make sense).
The illustrations are nice but nothing special and the fold-out tree house not as interactive as other Percy books.
Never mind.
