Book Description

When Grace’s boyfriend Jamie dumped her just days before their college graduation to follow his dreams, she quickly left town and carved out a new life for herself, eliminating all traces of the man who broke her heart. Well, all traces of him besides their son, whose existence she decided it was best to keep secret from her ex.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy romantic read which should have been better 25 Sept. 2013
By Deborah TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Grace and Jamie are both in college and have been dating for nearly three years, they're making plans for the future and both have jobs lined up in New York City for after graduation their future looks good but then just days before graduation Jamie breaks her heart. Realising he's made a mistake Jamie looks everywhere for Grace but she's disappeared, it takes him five years to find her but a lot can happen in five years.
I find myself so often saying "it could have been better" and yes again it should have been, I felt Jamie's reasons were silly and surely he didn't really expect her to wait on the side lines after he'd thrown their relationship away, what on earth was he thinking, and Grace I'm sorry but what was going through her head most of the time.
Despite everything I've said this was still a nice easy romantic read and it's free so well worth ago.

2.0 out of 5 stars One of my least favourite books 5 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't think I have ever disliked a character more than I disliked Grace in this book. I found her extremely selfish, even when her decisions were explained they all just felt like flimsy excuses of a coward. As the novel went on I started to also dislike the other characters, including Jamie and just hoped that they would go on with their lives and wise up to what a drip Grace actually is. Over the course of reading it my housemate would come in to the room, take one look at me and say "Oh, I see you're still reading that book then." Just by taking a look at my face she could tell how much the book annoyed me.
Why and how it was a given a happy ending where everything ties up nicely is beyond me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rather Addictive 26 Sept. 2013

This was a rather interesting read for me. First off, it's a "secret baby" book. As a man and a father, I abhor that concept. Unless daddy is a serial killer, abuser or rapist, there is no excuse to hide the child from its father. Even if daddy cheated on mommy. Punish daddy by breaking up with him. But don't steal his child. Or deny your kid a father. So for most of this book, I really, REALLY detested Grace. I mean, I hated her. And Jamie didn't even cheat on her! He broke up with her. And it wasn't even a full break-up - she just totally lost it and kind of screwed herself over. Then she finds out she's pregnant and makes herself disappear from the face of the earth, forbidding anyone from telling Jamie her whereabouts - or about Jake his son. And then she spends almost the entire book rationalizing why she shouldn't tell Jamie the truth. And she runs. Multiple times. I spoil nothing - you can get this from the blurb and in the first 20 pages of the book. So, because she feels hurt, not only does she steal her ex's son from him, she denies her child a father. And that is my idea of a bad mother.

Of course if you've read a "secret baby" book before, you know exactly how it will turn out - you'd have to summer on Mars and winter on Venus not to know. If I ever come across a secret baby book that end differently I'll eat my Kindle.

So I hated Grace, and I then proceeded to inhale this book like it was coke. Just because you hate an MC doesn't mean the book isn't awesome and you must devour it, forsaking all other duties in life, like eating and sleeping. I think it took me 4 hours. And now I want more. So the lesson of the day is: the MC can be a total idiot and you can still love the book I'll bet it was planned that way. And in the end, Grace kind of sort of redeems herself (because she realizes what a total jerk she's been), and I only mildly despise her. Jamie is really cool, Jake is awesome, Caroline'll see, and I even liked Charlie, though I do have a feeling I wasn't supposed to. But this author has me hooked. Nice impressive debut. Good job.

I also totally support Ms. White because she has the same name as my wife (before she married me, that is).:)

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Irresistible Book 26 Sept. 2013
By Melody Cox - Published on

I really enjoyed this read. I thought the characters were well-developed and flawed just like the rest of us. But I have a couple of problems with the story that kept it from being a five-star review and not near as believable as it could have been.

Problem #1 -- Jamie says he has looked for Grace for five years. Come on now! This guy is a wealthy, brilliant businessman, although I do wonder about his common sense. Private Detective to track her down....Hello? He must not have wanted her badly enough to abandon that route which should have been his first thought. We have the World Wide Web and ways to track people who do not want to be found.

Problem #2 -- When he finally found her he made up excuses to be with her. What is wrong with the truth? Why couldn't he have been straight about it and tell her he has been looking for her for five years and wants to try again? He only made himself less in her eyes. He appeared power hungry and immature. It did not seem he took any of it seriously. That was a bit sad. Of course, I also realize that these negatives is what makes a storyline interesting.

It is a good lesson to demonstrate the importance of truthfulness in any relationship.

I would recommend this book and I will look for more of this author's work.

Grace is dumped right before graduation from college by Jamie. He wants to pursue a different lifestyle and without any commitments. She leaves and starts another life of her own. She has all her family and friends not to tell him where she went. After five years he finds her. That is the story. I enjoyed to concept but was not truly moved by his reasons. I will let you be the judge. I will be looking for more books from this author later.

I had high hopes for this book. However it frustrated me to no end. The heroine was just so annoying it was bad. She kept her secret way too long. I really felt bad for the hero. I'm so glad I got this book for free. Otherwise I would have returned it.

Omg so I wasn't sure about reading this book but man once I started I couldn't put it down. Amazing loved the whole storyline even though I did hate that she was keeping this secret from Jamie so happy that they get their HEA!!!
