Product Description

To achieve complete blackout, there must be no gaps where light could enter. Using self-adhesive hook velcro all the way around the window frame, this velcro-compatible material attaches to the window and leaves no gaps. Easy to use - simply apply whenever required. Folds up for storage. Can be cut to size if required, and does not fray so no hemming required! When finally removed from the upvc window frame, the Velcro may leave some adhesive residue - this can be removed using bathroom silicone sealant remover.

This is just a word of caution really as none of the other reviews mention what happens when you try to remove the velcro tape from around your window frames.

We used these for around 3 years on two bedroom windows and they were great right up to the point where the tape had to be removed from the window frames (normal UPVC window frames).

Even if you remove the tape very carefully, there is a huge amount of residue left - sticky stuff remover and various other residue removing cleaners (including bathroom silicone sealant remover) do not work effectively. We allowed two full days to remove the tape and after 16 hours of continuous spraying, scraping and picking there was still lots of residue left and once you start scraping you also end up with little lumps of it all around the frame.

My advice would be to give yourself a lot more time to remove it or just leave the tape up if you can.

Put this up in baby's room to keep it dark and this has really done the trick. It is a very simple but effective means to stopping light filtering in from the sides like so many other blackout solutions.

On an extremely bright day, you can see a faint glow from the blind, but it still keeps the room dark and if you have curtains over the blind, like we have in baby's room, no light will be visible.

I would not recommend to use on wood frames as the removal of the velcro strips requires some harsh chemicals which will likely remove the varnish or finish off.
Last point - it is not so simple as taking it on and off on a daily basis, so you will want to make sure you want to keep the room dark for awhile. I have managed to partially remove the bottom and reattach it further up without taking the whole blind off to let some natural light into the room or have a view outside when wanted.

Works exactly as described providing an excellent blackout solution. Helps to have quite wide plastic window frames to ensure that material finishes right off the window which ensures maximum performance. A little clumsy to take off and on as I have a Size 3 window, so I cut my blind in half and now leave the top half permanently in place and just remove the lower half - make sure you have enough material to overlap the join in the middle though! Don't know why I didn't invest in this a couple of years ago!

This product does exactly what you would expect and is promised in the description. A very useful piece of decoration, and as you can completely remove it and put it away when not in use - it doesn't clutter up the window when not needed.

We bought these to use as a temporary measure when we had new triangle windows installed as part of our loft conversion. After looking at all other options, I bought these to use for a few weeks until we could decide on something more permanent. It's been over a month now and we have gotten used to them - attaching them each evening (very easy) and taking them down and putting away each morning. No more effort than pulling curtains really, with the benefit of allowing the maximum amount of light in during the day.

I would recommend these for a bedroom or nursery, quick delivery and good quality/value.

This kit consists of some self adhesive Velcro strips that you cut to size and attach to your window frame, with extra little bits for the corners, which I have not needed to use.

One large sheet of blackout material then sticks to the Velcro forming a complete seal around the window. The blackout effect is 100%.

You can then just tear the curtain off the window and fold it away somewhere.

A little expensive for what you get and doesn't exactly look designer, but functionality wise it is spot on.

Can be easily cut to size to avoid the excess overhanging too.

This is absolutely brilliant. You get a complete blackout. Follow the instructions carefully about the preparation, ie washing down the windows and after sticking, leave the tape to set for over 24 hours. Result - Fantastic.

Wasn't sure about this when I read the reviews, and it seemed quite expensive. It does work a treat though and I'm really happy I bought it. I got the largest size which was big enough for a 1750x1150mm 3-panel window. I made three different cuts out of it and put the velcro around the window frame. The result is outstanding I can leave the two outer pieces in place and remove the centre one, leaving some light in through the day. All in all it's an excellent product that does the job really well.

Only drawback I found is that the velcro was not long enough for the making three panels out of it, at the end I used it all up, but I wish it came with a bit (50-100cm) more.

For 3 years we have had bin liners taped up on our son's bedroom window with a blackout roller blind and black out curtains but still there were gaps and the room was light particularly in the light summer evenings! When our new baby came along we decided to go for these blinds. OMG! Complete darkness! They are amazing! The velcro is easy to attach to the the window frames and because it is white you don't even notice it's stuck on there. The fabric then sticks to this velcro with no gaps which is perfect. During the day when we want light we Pull the blind up from the bottom leaving it attached at the top and hang the fabric over the curtain pole. The material is really thick and feels excellent quality.

There is no need for extra curtains but it does mean we can buy whatever curtains we want rather than having to stick to the boring blackout designs which didn't work anyway. We bought a set for each of the boys and they are worth every single penny. We have been using them for 4 months now and the fabric still looks brand new, the velcro hasn't come away from the window frame and the blind hasn't fallen off once or even come away from the velcro. I would definitely reccommend!
