@earth is as revolutionary in form as it is in content. It contains no words: instead it tells its story in the universal language of photomontage, long the favoured medium of radical artists. Peter Kennard is one such, whose work has consistently questioned power structures and injustice, from his anti-nuclear works of the 1980s to his powerful works in response to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. @earth is a photo-essay in seven chapters, combining new works, made together with Tarek Salhany, with iconic images from throughout Kennard's 40-year career. In turn challenging, shocking, unsettling and poignant, @earth makes a powerful statement about the impending eco-crisis, the arms race and the injustices of the power structures dominating today's world.

Review

This book perfectly captures the brutal asymmetries of our age: heavy weaponry trained on broken people, all-seeing technologies and disappearing identities, perpetually exhaling industry and an asphyxiating planet. If there's a word that's worth a thousand pictures, it's @earth. --Naomi Klein

Peter Kennard's work is haunting. Eschewing words, it insists on not being forgotten. He is a master of the medium of photomontage. --John Berger

I take my hat off to you Sir, @earth looks great. --Banksy

A stark and startling view of the many problems faced by humans today shown through the brilliant work of Peter Kennard. If this is directed at earth I think we need to sit up and listen.
