I bought this for starting university and I didn't want (or need) a heavier laptop.
I love it! Its cute and neat, I use it mostly for word processing, internet, music and occadionally games like solitare. It works really well, it can sometimes be a little slow it you're running lots of things at the same time but I still think its great. The maximum battery life I can get from it is 3 hours on a full charge, although I usually get about 2 - 2.5.
Its very quick to start up, the internet sometimes takes a minuet or 2 (although that might just be my connection!)but it opens flash drives etc. right away.
The only thing that bothers me about it is the touch pad is really sensitive so if you brush the cursour over a hyperlink or something it clicks it automatically (annoying whe youre ust reading something!) and I can't figure out how to change the sensitivity, so I sometimes just plug a mouse in instead. Other than that I think its great! Cheap and quick delievery from Amazon too!

Purchased this netbook to supplement a desktop computer. It's perfect as a portable computer due to the tiny size of the thing. I was a bit concerned that because it was so small it wouldn't be able to handle very much in terms of computing. So far it has been perfect.

The small screen can be frustrating sometimes when on the internet as some web pages were created for larger monitors. This isn't a massive issue but something you should be aware of. The lack of a CD/DVD drive could also pose a problem to some, but you can easily purchase an external one relatively cheaply.

The negatives are vastly outweighed by the positives. The battery life is decent, 4 hours is probably about right. The charger is compact and there isn't a large adapter to worry about. The best things about this netbook are the price and the size, both quite small.

I bought this product approx. 2 weeks ago and it is excellent value for money. I needed a netbook/laptop for research purposes and tried to purchase a refub (same price, different brand) through Argos clearance on e-bay which was an absolute nightmare. Argos didn't deliver and e-bay's website was confusing in trying to get contact details. After trying to contact them via telephone and email to track my order, to no avail I gave up only to be sent an email 2 weeks later that the item was returned to them undelivered!

Anyway, being an Amazonite, I looked on Amazon and found this neat little machine which I am soooo pleased with. The delivery was quick, the machine is new, it picked up the wireless network instantly, is super easy to install, has 4 hours battery life, is very lightweight (it fits in my handbag) and definitely fit for purpose. Would recommend for purchase. It's a good buy.

I did have a doubts about getting a netbook, but being a musician I travel a lot. With baggage restrictions getting silly over the last few years ( thanks Ryanair!) to take a full size lap top is a problem on some flights. Also I needed something that I can put my tracks on for gigs in a handy package in WAV form.I use an HRT sound streamer for optimum quality.
A friend bought one of these little darlings and was very happy with it, I tried it out for speed and convenience and it does the job. The screen size takes a little getting used to but it is ample. Battery life is good, though it can get a little warm when using mains power. The speed is OK but depends on your connection, no disc drives of course but I assume anyone that would use a mini laptop has a bigger one too or a PC at home.Windows XP makes it familiar to use and there's plenty of connections for what ever you want to plug in.
In summary, a well made little fella, very light, just buy a bag to throw it in and chuck it all in your hand luggage with no problems at all!

This is a very nice product. I got rid of the ancient Windows XP that came pre-installed, and instead put on the latest Ubuntu Linux 10.10 Netbook edition. All the hardware is supported, including the Broadcom WiFi adapter. Battery life is a little short at 3-4 hours, but for the price, it can't be faulted.

When I first purchased this netbook, I was a little dubious as to whether it would be any good, due to the fact that the price was so low.
Once i received the eMachines netbook (only took 4 days and that was to Greece!!) and set it up, I instantly thought is was absolutely fantastic!!! It's a total bargain at the price that amazon sell it at!!
The only complaint I have is that the netbook doesn't come with Microsoft Office, only a 60 day trial, so beware of that!
Other than that though, I am one EXTREMELY HAPPY customer!! :-) Thank You Amazon and Thank You eMachines by Acer!!!

Cannot fault this item in anyway, bought it as a gift for my parents who are using an out of date laptop for doing simple tasks like browsing the net and playing basic card games.

It looks really nice as well, nice matt effect lid preventing finger prints which is a tad annoying on my dell, nice keyboard as well fairly big keys considering its size.

To sum it up I'd say it's ideal if your travelling and want to keep in touch with people, or as a gift for technophobe users who carry out very simple tasks.

Might be tempted to upgrade the ram in the future, has anyone upgrade the ram ? easy / hard ? Not read through the documentation but I'm guessing 2gb will give it more of a boost
