The Coen brothers team up with horror director Sam Raimi to produce this serial killer spoof. When Detroit pest exterminators Crush and Coddish decide to expand their operation to include the disposal of humans, their best-laid plans soon go awry as the firm's body count escalates out of control.

I remembered watching 'Crimewave' about 20 years ago and thinking it was one of the most imaginative and funny films I had seen, and I was pleased to see it had been given a re-release on DVD. The trouble is this is a film which has aged terribly, and by today's standards seems cheap, corny, badly acted and somewhere in style between a bad Jim Carrey film, a Bugs Bunny cartoon and the Coen Brothers 'The Hudsucker Proxy'. It's really no wonder why both Sam Raimi and the Coen brothers have more or less disowned the film.

A film directed by Sam Raimi and written by the Coen brothers?
Surely it can't get any better.
I love this film and I'm surprised it hasn't been available on DVD before.
Don't be put off by the awful cover. This film is cartoon, yes, but is dynamic, well acted and best of all absolutely hilarious.
It is or should be a cult classic.
Full of memorable lines including the chat up line "would you like to have some lunch some evening?" which crops up again in Spider-man.
The music is amazing, drawing on cartoon music, and the sound effects are good too - I'm sure I recognise quite a few making their first outing in The Evil Dead.
Very very highly recommended.

I never tire of watching this brilliant comedy. It's about a businessman who hires a couple of rat exterminators to murder his business partner. This they pull off, but later they accidentally kill the man who hired them !! So they frame a hapless employee for the murder, played by Reed Birney.
It's totally over the top & wacky. And it's directed by Sam Raimi, who made the EVIL DEAD trilogy. Raimi's style of film making is bold & highly watchable. Just watch as Bruce Campbell blows a puff of cigarette smoke, & it turns into a curvy woman doing a dance !! This is laugh out loud stuff.
Feeling under the weather & fed up with the world ?? Then watch Crimewave. It's a great cure for depression !!!

Sentenced to death on the electric chair, an unfortunate man must recount recent events and hope his tale of woe is believed. It revolves around a couple of psychopathic killers (a hilariously obnoxious pair akin to an evil Laural and Hardy) on a bloody rampage.

This is a crazy black comedy from Sam Raimi, and all his trademark outlandish quirks are present and corrupt in what is essentially a live action adult comic book. Great moments include Bruce Campbell's character at a dinner party, the shlock horror murders and the action-packed car chase showdown. A rollercoaster ride from start to finish.

This is a fun film from the 80s, I remember watching it on video tape and enjoying it. It's great to watch when you just want something mindless to do.

I love this silly film. It's such a mish-mash of film genres, it's fabulous. The U.S import has DTS-HD master audio mono, Dolby digital mono and is 86 minutes. Apparently while filming, anything and everything went wrong and it was only released in Kansas and Alaska.
