The instrumentals are all superb, and the four vocal tracks are brilliant, too, with probably the best vocals Andrew has ever produced, along with Susan Hoover's finest lyrics.
This album could have gone multi-platinum, if only people had heard it. Anyone who likes intelligent, sophisticated and moving rock should try it.
I thoroughly recommend this album - Buy it, listen to it, love it - You will not be disappointed.
It's hard to describe the Camel sound. Maybe a more emotional version of Pink Floyd, with more instrumentals. In saying that, the songs on this are magnificent, too. Some people have compared the music to Dire Straits - no comparison, Camel wins hands down.
This is inspired by Steinbeck's classic, moving novel "The Grapes of Wrath" and the music does justice to its inspiration. Andrew Latimer may be the greatest guitarist in the world, he's certainly the best guitarist no-one's ever heard of. The album features Camel veterans Colin Bass (on, coincidentally, bass guitar), Ton Scherpenzeel on keyboards and Paul Burgess on drums, with excellent guest vocalists Mae MacKenna and David Paton sharing the singing with Latimer himself. Even the cover art is wonderful. Camel is possibly the only one of the great progressive rock bands from the 70s that is surpassing the achievements of that decade now.
