bought this camera as an upgrade to my simple point and shoot camera but was not confidant of going direct to an SLR. Need this camera for an upcoming cruise and wanted to take some good pictures. This camera does excatly what I wanted in that it is a point and shoot and if the mood takes me I can mess around with apertures and shutter speeds. I think the Panaorama mode is brilliant and will be very usefull on Holiday. great built in flash for thse nightime shots and the Zoom is not the longest on the market but adequate for my needs. This is a light cameara and I opted to buy a wrist strap to ensure that I dont drop it. this option of the extra battery is a great idea as you can have one in the camera and one on charge, however the camera doesnt come with a memory card so this addition wasnt just usefull but essential. The camera bag is not the best as its smaller than I thought but it holds my FZ62 with its wrist strap as well as some spare cards and table tripod and I can also fit in my little point and shoot camera for the wife!

Great buy after agonising over which bridge camera to get, this performs well and looks great even though when it arrived the menu was in French along with the paperwork but it comes with an operating menu on a CD and I soon sorted out the language switch, but would have preffered the quick menu in English!!

I considered this purchase very carefully and eventually chose this model and make. I was very pleased from the start, it's lightweight but feels robust. I found it reasonably easy to get to grips with the different settings and have mostly enjoyed the '1 colour' setting and the panorama setting. Had one day to experiment before going on a 2 week holiday and came back with 1,720 photos! That just shows how pleased and comfortable I was with it! Takes excellent photos, especially close ups of people and, as a I say, panoramas. Night shooting was not quite so good but it may just be a case of not using the correct setting - choice of night portrait, night scene, handheld night shot, etc so probably I haven't got there yet! Specifically wanted a camera with rechargeable battery. Very useful to have a 2nd one in the pack as I could just change it when it had run down - with taking so many photos I was changing batteries over roughly every other day.
However I bought, on top of this, a 2nd memory card and no way did I need it - have loads of space left on the first. No need for 2!
I would not hesitate to recommend as the price was lower than most for the quality of camera plus a good no-nonsense case and spare battery.

I wanted a semi-technical camera that was high quality. I reviewed which to see what was the best buy in this category, and this was the camera i chose. The automatic setting will do almost everything you want, and still allows you to change settings to learn what effect they have on the end photo. I am a techie, so this fills my needs to learn about photography, and has plenty of features to keep me interested. Excellent camera, long life battery, excellent package.... i just love it.

Read the reviews and decided to go for it.I was not disappointed the instructions were in English and very easy to follow. although for the more advanced features are in pdf downloaded from a disc it was quite easy to print off and make a little booklet should I want to experiment when I gain more knowledge. On the whole for an old man well pleased and delivery ordered and arrived early next day. 100% from me.
regards john

I have had all types of still and video cameras over the last 50/60 years and had been looking at bridge cameras, reading reviews and eventually settled on the Lumix FZ62 after reading comments on the page. When I started watching this offer there were 14 cameras in stock, after I bought mine (My wife paid for it as a birthday present) there was only one left. I received my delivery one day earlier then promised and when I opened the packaging my first thoughts were what a beautiful camera. Up to now I have only used the Intelligent Auto but the quality and clarity of images, compared to my previous 6.1 mp camera, are quite outstanding. I've only started to tinker with the other options P A S M etc., but with what I've seen with IA I'm sure I have a lot to look forward to. Thank you Panasonic.

The camera is great & the 16gb card & extra battery give so much more flexibility they are a must. On the down side the camera case is barely large enough & I wouldn't recommend it for use for this camera

This is a fabulous little camera, taking remarkable photos with its Leica lens.
Unfortunately, sharing a bed with Sony on the video front they have had to choose the AVHCD file format. The only way to handle this is through their bundled software, and any attempt to use other proprietary software results in failure. There is the option to record in MP4 but one of the reasons I bought it was for its High Def video.
Just loading an AVHCD onto my PC proved impossible unless it was done through their bundled software. When will such people learn that trying to corral people into a little place where only their key will let you out is NOT how things work nowadays.
Rant over. Its takes fabulous photos and the MP4 videos aren't bad either.
