Book Description

Eddie has a bad habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time - otherwise he never would have gotten mixed up with the Reservoir Pups, the scrappy gang of boys who rule the streets in his new town. And he definitely wouldn't have agreed to their initiation mission: to break into the hospital his mom works at. It's just Eddie's luck that he quickly stumbles upon a kidnapping plan that Scuttles, head of hospital security and (gross) his mom's new boyfriend, seems to have masterminded.
Now Eddie is on the trail of some twisted baby-snatchers - a scam so big, even the Reservoir Pups want no part of it. And just when it seems as if life can't get any worse, he bumps into the leader of the Andytown Albinos, the most fearsome gang of all..
Fasten your seat belts for this action-packed, outrageous comic caper, in which no one is exactly what they seem.

Review

Fast, furious, and very funny. (Primary Times 20040201)

Fast, fabulous fun ... excellent comic adventure. I loved the carefree sheer enthusiasm of the writing and laughed aloud throughout. Can't wait for the next!` (The Children's Bookseller 20030801)

The fact that young and old alike can enjoy this novel is testament to Bateman's talent... Tension is mixed in with impeccable comic touches in a novel almost unique in its genre. Never does the reader feel patronised, neither do you feel like you are excluded from the emotional moments. (This is Books 20030801)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book- the first time it was released 23 July 2012

Naughty- No indication that this is actually the original 'Reservoir Pups'- where did the 'Running with' come from? I'm giving five stars as the book itself is excellent and highly recommended for young teen readers, but this continues in the poor treatment by the publishers of this series...
Updated-
I am reliably informed the Running with is the American title...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Teen Fiction 22 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this. I am a Colin Bateman fan but had not read any of his novels for some time. This was a great reintroduction into his mad mad world where nothing comes out as expected or planned. The novel is littered with larger than life characters with varying degrees of humour or violence attached to them. The sweet and sour of Bateman's novels is well known and Eddie and the Reservoir Pups does not dissappoint. Great pace and an unlikely end lifting the lid to more Eddie adventures.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 13 Dec. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is compelling story about good guys versus bad guys which I couldn't put down so read it in a day. Bateman's comedic prose is excellent and there are some memorable one liners. The plot verges on the ridiculous but is nevertheless believable as well as being absolutely unpredictable. It is excellent!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the usual 3 Oct. 2012

having read a lot of Colin Bateman books I was looking forward to this one, unfortunately it never really delivered in the way his books usually do and it struggled to hold my attention and I was left a tad disappointed at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow 13 Jan. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a surprise! I though this was written as a children's book but as i was waiting for the latest Mystery Man to come out i gave it a read. I found it very entertaining and think the writer has a great inventive mind.
