I have had this grill for about four weeks now. I am very impressed. The main features are that it is extremely easy to clean, the plates come off and on very easily and turn over from grill to griddle without any effort. It cooks all sorts of food very easily, and steaks, burgers, paninis come out very well, with very little mess. It is very well made and comes with a five year guarantee.
I am amending this today (September 2012) because after over a year of ownership, would you believe it, I am on my third machine! I had to return the first after a few months because the central switch went faulty and would not work on the panini setting. The second machine also lasted a few months and the same fault occurred. I bought one for friends for Xmas last and there's developed the same fault after 10 months. I have return it again this time to Cuisinard as it is out of suppliers warranty, but there is obviously a manufacturing fault with the switches. I have rated down from a five to three.

I have been an avid user of other griddles in the past but was always fed up of how much of a pain it was to clean them. Then I bought the cuisinart griddle, it now could not be easier, finish cooking wait for it to cool down, un clip the grills and put them in the dishwasher. My frying pan hasn't been out of the cupboard since I bought it which is a lot healthier and with the choice of flat or ribbed plates I do Gammon on one side and cook the egg on the other. All in all best thing I have bought for the kitchen in years

I would recommend this gill, very sturdy and well thought out design, like the aspect of the plates Which just clip off for easy cleaning, always had George Forman grills but found this much better ,also you have temperature control . There is a fat collection draw which slides out the side of grill which is far better than the tray in front of grill, I was impressed with the cost of the griddle, compared with other grills on the market. Also because of temperature control your food is cooked to perfection ,truly converted by this grill.

Originally I intended to buy a George Foreman Grill as I had previously owned one.
I decided to read amazon reviews to find the best one. It was then that I came across the Cuisinart GR4NU and am I glad I did.
I usually expect a certain degree of hype when I read reviews so I read a lot of them, both positive and ones with certain reservations. I compared George Foreman grill reviews to those of Cuisinart and there didn't seem to any competition. I bought the Cuisinart.

I have been using it for approximately 1 month. In particular I have 2 kitchen items that cheer me up just to know that I have them in MY kitchen. One is an italian coffee maker that makes wonderful coffee from the bean to the cup at the press of a single button. The other is my Cuisinart grill. It is beautifully retro looking reminiscent of 50's americana. It's solid and dependable yet modern and simple to use.
It cooks steaks, chicken breasts, burgers etc. in no time and they are succulent and delicious.
Toasted sandwiches besides being very tasty are crisp and hold their shape.

As for cleaning the plates a quick rinse and rub of a cloth does the job.

Buy it, you wont be disappointed.

Verified Purchase
Replaced my George Foreman with this after it packed up within a year. Plates are quite thin so heat quickly, reversable as well as changeable from top to bottom. Also unlike the George Foreman the grease drip tray is within the body so can't be forgotten to position.
Used many times now and still looks brand new.
Really pleased.

I just bought the Cuisinart Griddle and Grill - GR4CU and it arrived on Tuesday 26th March 2013, at first all seemed well and it did the job of grilling okay. I fried an egg which was fine, after it had cooled down I took a sponge damp cloth and wiped down the surface of the griddle and wiped the temperature dial as a tiny drop of cooking oil had spattered onto it but to my horror the wording started to wipe off too, as if someone had painted it on with water colours, I rubbed my finger over it and saw black marks had transferred from the knob to my fingers like those pretend tattoo transfers for kids, on closer inspection I also noticed that the grey metallic paint on the aluminium cast frame had started to blister adjoining the bottom griddle plate. This was from a £99.95 device one day old, I also have to say for the price the whole thing reeks of cheap, this would be fine if it cost £35.00 but I was expecting it to be made of stainless steel at least, but it's not it's aluminium and plastic and the control dials look and feel like something on a child's cheap toy, trust me they wont last long. So I returned it today to John Lewis where I insisted on a refund as I believe this is a serial fault. I then considered buying another devise and after some research on the web came to the conclusion that the best way to go is to buy a commercial brand designed for Cafes or restaurants, to my surprise I found one from the brand buffalo with a bottom flat griddle and top part grill made of cast iron (which is permanently non stick) and at 2000 Watts for as little as £187.00 some with grill top and bottom are even cheaper at around the £120.00 mark, and even though I know that's almost double the price and that it's considerably larger I have at least the feeling that it will last more than a year or two, I can't imagine cafes buying these new every year ! Well that's my rant over, I am just so sick of buying electrical goods that pack up after a year. Regards Jim
