Support for high-resolution encoding captures the wide range of details that make your digital music come to life. And the integrated high-definition tweeter and long-throw subwoofer make sure you enjoy a full sound experience, from crisp, clean high notes to warm mid-range and deep bass.

The full-colour screen and intuitive menus make it easy to browse your way—album art included. Just turn the control dial and make your selection. It's that simple. Plus, six pre-set buttons put your favourite stations and services at your fingertips.

Free SqueezeNetwork for direct access to a world of Internet stations and music services

Display your Facebook home page and browse your friends' walls right on the screen. You can even set your Facebook photos or news feed as your screensaver. So you can send them music recommendations the moment you hear that amazing track or Internet radio station—and receive theirs, all without a computer.

Easy setup connects you to Internet stations in minutes
Just turn on the power and the music player automatically finds your home Wi-Fi network. You also have the option to plug in an Ethernet cable. Either way, in just five minutes you'll be able to start listening to stations across the planet.

Line-in cord lets you plug in your iPod
Do you want to listen to your iPod tunes in any room? Simple. Your Squeezebox Radio comes complete with a cord and built-in jack for your iPod or other MP3 player. Just plug it in and you're ready to rock.

Convenient seven-day alarm and auto-dimming display

3.0 out of 5 stars Good product. Check your WiFi strength first. Battery is +50euro., 29 Oct 2009
By M. Dowle (London) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Logitech Squeezebox Radio - Internet Radio with WiFi wireless MP3 music streaming (Electronics)
My previous kitchen radio died so I took opportunity to think about streaming music collection around house - something I've been meaning to do for a while.

The LCD screen makes all the difference compared to other products with squashed and limited displays. It displays album and track info neatly along with album/radio art. Its easy to setup preset radio stations, music collection etc. In fact I haven't needed to read the instruction manual. There is no need at all for FM/DAB/SD card or CDs. Its simple and easy and just what we wanted. The sound quality is excellent.

WiFi signal ... we use it in the kitchen where we hadn't used wifi before. We discovered we have weak wifi strength (less than 30%) in some parts of the kitchen. This is easy to check under the diagnosis menu on the radio. I found all of the connection/buffering problems so far were due to wifi strength (not the hardware or software) as the radio always works quickly and robustly when its next to our router which is upstairs and at the other end of the house (100% wifi strength). There is lots of information on the web about ways to boost the signal around your house and after trying the quick and free methods first, we have ordered a 'plug-in' additional WiFi point which relays the signal over the mains supply to the kitchen (Netgear WGXB102). We have a victorian terraced house with thick solid walls, and this type of house is troublesome for WiFi. If you are concerned about this possible extra cost then see if you can use another device (e.g. laptop) to check the WiFi signal in the locations you want to put the radio, before you buy. I don't mind at all and it still gets 5 stars without hesitation. *UPDATE* WiFi extender arrived and works fine. We can use the radio anywhere in the kitchen now and in the garden too.

The product is expensive but it is worth it. *UPDATE* - battery seems finally to be available (June 2010) direct from Logitech. However it is an additional 50 euro! I reduced from 5 to 3 for this reason. Its summer and we want to take it in the garden. It was already expensive and 50 euro for a battery just seems over the top.

Tip: Rather than switching on and then pressing play, you can just press play when the unit is off. The presets also work when the unit is off which is great. Just an example of user friendly it is and how much effort they put into reducing the number of button presses to do things.

2.0 out of 5 stars Serious flaws (unfortunately), 5 May 2010

    (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Logitech Squeezebox Radio - Internet Radio with WiFi wireless MP3 music streaming (Electronics)
I really wanted this radio to be good - It has a programmable alarm function, a 2.5" colour display and the layout of the controls looked good. Out of the box it was easy to set up, and I programmed it to wake me up to Radio 4 in the mornings. It looked and sounded good, speech had the right amount of bass and treble and it sounded like a radio rather larger. I was impressed with the interface too - 6 presets for internet stations and it was very easy to navigate round the menus and to load applications from the MySqueezebox website (which you have to register your radio with). The radio has a neat recessed handle built into the case on the back and is easy to move around the house. I thought it was going to be excellent - especially once I downloaded the BBC Listen Again applet.

However there are serious problems with the software on this radio - this evidenced itself when the radio woke me up with a loud piece of funky retro dance music - the default alarm tone. First I thought I'd set the programmable alarm up incorrectly, but I checked my settings again and tried the alarm out. It worked perfectly. Next morning, back came the horrible default alarm tone to scare me out of bed.

Doing some research - there is a Squeezebox Radio forum - I found that many radio owners have similar problems. The problem is evident if you use the MySqueezebox serever rather than configuring your PC as the server and leaving it on overnight. The MySqueezebox server seems to slow down at peak times, meaning that the internet radio stream takes too long to buffer and play on the Squeezebox Radio and the system seems to panic and start playing the default music - which can't be changed or faded in gently. The alarm does work ok if you set a sound effect to wake you up but if you want an internet radio station to do this, this radio isn't capable of doing it reliably at the moment - and as a result it isn't really fit for purpose as-is unless Logitech make some major changes to their software. I was also a little puzzled as to why the alarm function seems to be implemented on the server rather than the radio - this probably means that in the event of your internet going off line, the radio won't sound an alarm at all.. quite worrying. And I did have one morning where it did nothing, just sat there quietly whilst my back-up (Roberts 83i) went off bang on the pips as it always does....

Then I suffered several crashes and some difficulty with the BBC radio 4 stream stopping and not starting again properly.

This radio has some features that could make it exceptional, especially at this price, - the colour screen is fantastic, the interface is easy to use and the sound quality is unbelievably good for a radio of this size - but it doesn't function as it should right now and for that reason I'm having to return mine to Amazon for a refund with rather mixed feelings - if it worked properly I'd want one, but at the moment its too unreliable to trust it with waking me up in the mornings. If you are considering buying I highly recommend that you look at the Squeezebox Radio forum (link on the Logitech website) and see the software problems that users are having. If I'd checked this forum out first, I would probably not have bought this radio. I can now vouch first hand for some of the problems users are experiencing with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Be very careful if you want to listen to the radio!, 18 Jan 2010

I can only comment on this as a radio and an alarm clock, as I haven't tried it as a network music player yet.

As an alarm clock it is superb - the most flexible alarm system I've seen, and the clock display's auto-brightness adjust is the first bedside clock I've ever used that dims to a sensible level that you can sleep with. The display is fantastic.

As a radio, this device is flawed. Whilst your PC can stream radio direct from the broadcaster, for some reason this device gets its radio via a Squeezebox server in Germany, so if you try listening to a UK radio station which limits its content to the UK, then you won't get anything. I'm not sure how widespread this problem is, but it certainly affects BBC Radio 5 Live's commentary of the Premiership, and Test Match Special on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra. Neither of these shows are broadcast - instead you get some old show from several years ago.

UPDATE: Finally returned the radio, as Logitech support were hopeless. Despite all the discussion on the web, they said they'd never heard of the problem before and couldn't give a workaround or a timescale for fixing it.
