A multi–card slot makes it quick and easy to move images from your camera to the frame. Just pop your card in, switch on the power and enjoy the show. The D72’s elegant design and high–resolution 7" LCD screen provide the perfect mount for your photo collection. And whether your images are portrait or landscape, you’ll see them the right way up, thanks to an automatic orientation sensor. Bringing your pictures to life
The 7" wide VGA LCD screen has been designed to show your pictures at their best. Clear Photo technology delivers the high resolution, increased contrasts and vivid colours that make images appear clearer and more lifelike than ever. Auto orientation then ensures you enjoy your photos as intended, recognising whether they’re portrait or landscape and flipping them accordingly.

A choice of displays
You choose how you view your pictures. Go for a single image, or select slideshow and take a leisurely journey through your photos. If you’d like to see more than one image at a time, choose scrapbook and it’ll create a montage of your favourites. With its clock and calendar views, the D72 is much more than a photo frame. There’s a huge range of displays to choose from, so you can match the style to your surroundings. A timer means you can program the D72 to switch off when you want it to and save energy, while an auto–dimmer reduces screen brightness on darker days, saving power and delivering a more comfortable display. And for those days when you’re busy at work or just relaxing, the handy remote control lets you change display settings and other functions without having to leave your chair.

Easy transfers and quick searches
Transferring your photos is easy, thanks to a multi–card slot that accepts Memory Stick, SD Card and xD media. Just remove the memory card from your digital camera, pop it into the frame, turn on the power and enjoy. There’s no waiting around for images to load. The D72 is also Bluetooth compatible, with an optional USB adaptor which lets you transfer images wirelessly. A 1GB internal memory means you can store up to 2,000 images, saved at 2 megapixel resolution. Sifting through those images is made simple by the smart search functions. You can browse your photo collection by folders or special events, like a wedding or a holiday, and find the right picture in moments.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sony DPFE Digital Frame, 20 Dec 2009
By C. F. Ellinor - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I was very pleased with this model and its ease of use. Picture quality was good. I went for Sony because they seemed to be the only manufacturer who had the auto orientation facility to automatcally rotate portrait pictures.

Negatives: Auto orientation can be a bit slow sometimes. Picture doesn't fully fill screen. Photos of subjects with suntans do not portray very well because it adjusts the colour too much and makes it look like the person has lipstick on - not ideal when the photo is of your son!!

If at all possible I would recommend buying the largest screen you can afford because the smaller frames just don't do the pictures justice. I saw a Sony 10" frame on display in a store and it looked far better - unfortunately the price tag was over double - but when they come down in price I will be investing in a 10" frame for myself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic item I should have got ages ago, 6 May 2010

This review is from: Sony DPFD72NB 7 inch Digital Photo Frame With 1GB Internal Memory Storing Upto 2000 Photos (Electronics)
I was given this as a present, after thinking about getting one for years. It is a simple piece of technology that anyone can use. It has a built in 1gb storage, so you should roughly get about 1,500 photos on if using high quality images, and can also take multiple memory card formats. There is a small metal stand that screws in the back so you can either display it in portrait or landscape, and the photos will auto-rotate to match the display. I have set mine up so that the image fills the entire screen, rather than stay rigid to the photo constraints.

The remote that is supplied allows easy access to the menu for setup, change the picture display from slideshow to static to clock, forward through the images or go back, zoom in, etc. In landscape mode the SONY brand logo is automatically illuminated but this can be turned off in the settings if you wish.

If you organise your photos into folders, you can have the slideshow just view those images in a specified folder. I have mine all in one directory so that there are constant changes. You can change the time between photo changes, and the way the photos are changed with various wipes and animations (like Powerpoint).

The colours are bright and pictures clear. The only slight niggle I have is that the viewing angle is a little restricted in that you need to view the images from the front rather than the side, but at this price, this can be forgiven.

I love it, rather than 1 image that you pay no attention to after time, your pictures are constantly changing (especially if you put a large library on there) and they are always interesting. Everyone who sees it comments on it and is a good talking point.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely excellent purchase!, 29 Jun 2010
This review is from: Sony DPFD72NB 7 inch Digital Photo Frame With 1GB Internal Memory Storing Upto 2000 Photos (Electronics)
This digital photo frame comes in a very nice and presentable box. Once opened, the photo frame is packed underneath the blooklets, and it looks stunning. The photo frame itself it quite slim from the sides, but on there is a bit sticking out on the back, in the middle, a "rectangular hump". I am not complaining, just describing it. It is a bit like a mini television to be honest in its appearance. I am writing this to warn those planning to hang it up on the wall that it does stick out a couple of inches due to the back of the frame.

Once I received it, I plugged it via USB into my computer (which is running on Windows 7), and it is recognised as a removeable storage device, just like a USB memory stick. You then create a folder or multiple folders, and copy your photos on to it. This process is done using a USB cable, but none is supplied. It uses a B-type USB cable, which should be available to use temporarily in most households with a computer as it is just your standard printer USB cable. You can also insert a memory card and transfer the photos that way or just leave the memory card in.

There are buttons on the actual photo frame as well. It does come with a remote control which is quite small and light, however, it does not work too well as it needs to be held close and to the front, bottom right hand-side corner. It works though, once you get the hang of it.

This process was simple, so once they were transferred, I set the slideshow, at first the photos has black bars at the sides, and weren't full screen, so I clicked "menu", then clicked on "Slideshow settings" and then I changed the setting from "entire image" to "fit to screen". This helped. The photos themselves come up crystal clear on the LCD screen.

You can set it so that a clock with the date, etc appears on one side with the photo on the other, or just a calendar full-screen, or just a clock, etc. There are many options for clocks, and calendars, and they look very nice. You can use the frame as just a digital clock if you wish.

At the moment, mine is set to full-screen photo slideshow because the screen isn't massive so I prefer to just utilise the full screen for the photo slideshow.

I have about 400 photos from a 7 Megapixel camera stored on the internal 1GB storage, and they have used up 781mb, which is quite good I suppose. You could always resize the photos in order to save space.

There is a screw-in hole in the back on the right hand side (looking at it from the back), and you screw the metal "pole" into here. This holds up the frame, and at a slight angle, but the angle isn't adjustable but it isn't too bad. What I mean by this is that you can't lean it back or forward. You can place the frame horizontal or vertical, and the photo frame detects this and changs the photo so it is the right way up. Although, I prefer horizontal because I think it looks strange vertically standing up.

It is also possible to use this as a conventional photo frame by just displaying one image the whole time.

You have the option to choose the slideshow transition effect (like in powerpoints), and the time delay between photos. I have chosen the "random" slideshow transition effect.

There is also an option to choose times (and days) when it will switch on and off which is quite handy as well I guess.

The SONY sign lights up but can be switched off in the settings, and this switches off automatically upon mounting/standing the frame vertically, which makes sense I guess.

The frame itself is a nice glossy black. It is quite light, lighter than I expected.

I would definitely recommend this! Please don't hesitate to buy this. It is simple and works great, fabulous quality!
