The D1030 has stunning picture quality and is incredibly simple to use. The large, high resolution 10” (800x600) screen and patented Kodak Color Science technology deliver crisper detail and more vibrant colours. And with a 4:3 aspect ratio the D1030 frame is a perfect fit for your digital photos. Designed to be easy to use, simply plug in, insert a memory card and the slideshow begins. The D1030 has easy to use touch sensitive controls on the frame border for easy navigation and you can view your photos in a choice of 4 different viewing modes full screen, picture with clock, picture with calendar or in collage mode showing a selection of pictures on the screen. The D1030 accepts all common memory cards SD, SDHC, xD, MMC, MS, MSPro, MSPro Duo and USB. As well as displaying photos from your memory card, you can store your entire photo collection of up to 4,000 pictures on the frames 512MB built-in memory thanks to the automatic picture resizing feature.     Ten inch digital photo frames are considerably more expensive than 7" or 8" frames but the bigger size - I think - makes a significant difference. The Kodak EasyShare is probably mid to top-end pricing within the 10" market but it's well-made, takes a number of memory card options and can by placed in landscape or portrait position. It also has a nice proximity detection system for set-up: buttons on the RH edge and bottom of the screen light up when you put your hand close and this allows selection of menus and options. Set-up is straightforward although the menus are not completely intuitive as the temptation is to touch the icons on the picture screen rather than the buttons on the frame - which you shouldn't do as it marks the screen. Picture quality is good - you can get frames with better pixel resolution, but only at a seriously hiked price (and I doubt whether the difference would be noticable under normal use conditions). A built-in timer allows you to preset when you want it to switch on / off (although we use the mains socket).

    Picture transfer is easy. You can use a memory stick but because it would visibly protrude from the frame either download photos from the stick to the frame itself - which has 512 MB internal memory - or use an SD card which you can leave in place. Transfer from my Mac was simply a case of dragging JPGs onto the SD card then plugging the card into the frame at the back. The card remains plugged into the frame and is not visible in use. You can pick different picture transitions, Ken Burns effects etc.

    Only four stars? Because I think it's a bit on the expensive side.

    I purchased this item,for our workshop as photographs help our customers see the work we do.

    Photo albums as in the 'old' sense, just do not do it anymore, and I wanted the fact that you can choose what appears on the slide show.

    My other half is a techno-phobe, but I didn't need to worry, it was so easy, just choose which folders you want to show and off it goes. So even he is confident to use it......

    It has the facility to time when it comes on and when it goes off. It does exactly what it says on the box too.....
    The clarity and quality of the photos are superb (10" version), and looks the 'business' when our customers come in, and they can see a slide show of our work playing away, whilst they are having a coffee.

    Compared to my 8" Kodak:

    Actual screen size:
    - the 8" measures 8.75"x5.25"
    - the 10" measures 8.25"x6.25"

    Transition delay:
    - 3 sec on the 8" takes 3 seconds
    - 3 sec on the 10" takes 12 seconds

    Controls:
    Too much temptation for littlies to play when controls lights up - needs a 'disable' mode/switch

    The only reason I'll keep it is for the USB point, otherwise I prefer my 8" - and it was a LOT cheaper!!
