WD Caviar Green WD5000AADS - hard drive - 500 GB - SATA-300
This review is from: Western Digital - WD Caviar Green WD5000AADS - Hard drive - 500 GB - internal - 3.5'' - SATA-300 - buffer: 32 MB (Personal Computers)
This is a great HDD. It is a 'green' version, which means the spinning speed is controlled by the device between 5400 and 7200 rpm based on the usage to save energy and increase lifetime. To compensate the little slower speed it has 32MB of cache which is not common on this size of hard disks. I am using it for weeks now, it is very quiet, no noise coming from it and turned to be a very good performer. If you are looking for a sturdy HDD which uses less power but gives you plenty of storage I would recommend this device.

Not only decent value and energy saving, but spacious quick and quiet. Unless your system is silent, you won't hear this even during the busiest of activities. Rated as a 5.9 on Windows 7

I used this disk as a replacement for the ailing hard disk in my Thomson Sky HD box. This disk works perfectly, is quiet and reliable with more space than the original. Good instructions about how to carry out the replacement can be found on the Net. Check that you do not violate any warranties or guarantees though before you have a go at DIY. Apart from that, all you need is care and patience, a screwdriver and a pair of long nosed pliers. Good luck.
