After Richter and Lazar Berman's death, Grigory Sokolov may be the last living pianist of the same capacity and artistry, and this recital show the depth and richness of music making very few of pianists can match today.

Beethoven Sonatas display the pianist's amazing ability to strike perfect balance between artistic expressiveness and intellectual grasp of the architecture. Prokofiev's 7th Sonata has never been played with such intensity and verve since Richter (Richter plays it much faster in 50s, though / Parnassus), not to mention his phenomenal technical prowess.
